This ump is really giving the pitchers the benefit of the pitch just off the plate outside.

Living in Southen Indiana, about 2-2.5 hours from St. Louis, I attended many games. My dad had a friend that lived in Oklahoma who was a Cubs fan and they used to meet in St. Louis for the July Cardinals and Cubs series. I attended my first when I was about 6 months old and went every summer to the series and usually got Grant’s Farms, Six Flags, or something else thrown in for our family summer vacation. I wish I could have continued something like that for my kids, but it’s just WAY too expensive for it. If I get to 1 game a year I’m lucky. But I remember some hot games as a kid, but it never bother me. Now my brother and mom, not sports fans, didn’t like it one bit. July of 2010 got front row 1st base tickets for really cheap and was taking my son to the zoo that day for his 2nd birthday anyway. So spent the whole day at the zoo with a temp of 103, left the zoo went and checked into the hotel, quick rinse off and change of clothes and to the stadium. It was still close to 100 at first pitch and was one of the most hot I remember being ever. Met Jason Motte that day though and he was SUPER nice.

Spraying it around like cover fire from a pillbox.

Feels like Texas has collected about 20 base hits.

My gut is telling me this is going to be a long series. I just do not see the Cardinal pitching matching up well against this Ranger line up.

Any guesses on the over/under on how many runs the Rangers put up tonight? I will go with 7, and take the over. They have a strong lineup.

Man you look at Garcia – just on build alone he looks like a player. Can’t see how an organization would just let him go.

Sadly, Waino appears to be toast. Really wish he had been able to go out on a higher note with Yadi and Albert last year. It’s sad to see him knocked around like a piñata.

Rangers have 7 hits and walk with 2 outs in the bottom of the 3rd. Sad indeed…..

apparently headed for 11 games under….

That Baker is a big dude.

Yeah, it is sad, 25, but the Rangers lead the Big Leagues in runs scored, so even though Adam’s out of steam at almost 42, he walked into a potential ambush with this team.

Yeah, he’s put together, Bikemike, and it doesn’t look like he’s built cheap.

Whenever Wainwright’s taken a turn this season there’s been an instant when I glance at the TV screen and forget that Molina’s not crouched behind HP.

Looking at the rangers offensive numbers, they are definitely legit. I know people don’t like batting average but when most of your lineup is around 300 you are going to score some runs. Add in some good pitching and you are going to win some games.

No question about it, Willie. And with someone like Bochy to fill out the card, those BA’s will be maximized.

Had to run out for a minute. I see Waino is done, another 5 inning start. Just way too much traffic.

The game isn’t out of hand though, but the O needs to earn their keep.

Yeah, they’ve managed 2 hits. One of them coming from a guy with 6 Big League AB’s.

Has anyone seen a more inane line-up and order this season than the one filled out for tonight’s game?

Had to step away for awhile. See it is still 3-1 in the 7th. Thought it would be about 8-1 by now. Still got a shot.

To my eye, Baker and Walker are very similar in their approach and swing. Pitchers seem to approach them the same way. Both have poor recognition of breaking pitches down in the zone. Both have poor coverage of the outer edge. Baker doesn’t pull off as bad as Walker, but he still seems to have just as much trouble with the outer edge.

Looked like Pallante threw the old Burt Hooton pitch, a knuckle-curve.

    Why take out Pallante now?

I won’t be able to tell anything about Baker hitting a baseball unless he sticks around for another 20 games or so, but he were sitting at the table, I sure wouldn’t try to grab the last biscuit.

This question doesn’t have anything to do with this game, but I haven’t heard anything about Paniagua’s injury or recovery time. Anyone know anything about his status?
