Yeah, I looked him up and saw that, gscottar. In his last 10 games he’s 18 for 37…Haha!

Edit…I forgot to mention that he just turned 26 years old and has K’d a total of 11 times this season.

Arraez has one measly homer. If he was our guy, they’d do like they did with Donovan this past winter and hook him up with a tech savvy guru to fix his swing. He’d hit a few next year but be nothing like the weapon he is now.

Someone on here recently mentioned the makeover the Rangers did this past offseason. They canned their analytical front office leader and replaced him with Chris Young, a former player. They hired an old school future HOF caliber manager in Bochy then spent big money fortifying their rotation after fortifying their offense in recent years. Their payroll is $195M.

Looking at the standings I would say things seem to be working so far.

G…it was me. I love what they’ve done. I’ve got a couple of connections there and knew they were changing course. Chris Young has been a revelation for them after they tired of the geek boy wonder who also ran off Nolan Ryan. They mirror what’s happened in St. Louis with the exception that the Cardinals are just now tanking, but it’s been a slow steady decline in competitiveness.

You’ll go TC, you’re not fooling me.

Bling…I decided against going. I’m chilling with a din din of Texas BBQ and some good ole Starnes BBQ sauce from Paducah, KY, chips and a Dr. Pepper. Best seat in the house tonight for the festivities.

Like I said on another thread, Mo and his wonky front office pukes are hastening the end of life as we know it. They must be further along with it than I thought.

Yeah, in the past I’d already be out at the ballpark. Just didn’t feel like going and fighting with parking and traffic and the expense. They’ve succeeded in killing this lifelong Cardinals fan of 53 years. Job well done.

The Marlins have the 4th or 5th best record in the National League. Their payroll is half to two thirds of the Cardinals payroll. How do we explain that?

My guess is that the Marlins have a much better pitching staff. I am sure there is more to it but that is a good start.

Texascard, the Rangers makeover has been impressive. I wish we could do the same.

What are the odds we even win one of these three games? 20% chance maybe?

    Skip Schumaker!
I’m joking….somewhat. I always loved Skip as a player. Tony tested him when he was young. He put in the work, proved his worth, and became one of “Tony’s boys”. I think he brought the same attitude and work as a coach in SD and STL and should have been named manager instead of bench coach when they had the chance. Instead they let him go and he’s having success with Miami.
But in reality it’s been a lot of luck, their pitching is underachieving really and their Pythagorean suggests a 26-34 record with their 233 Runs, 270 runs allowed. Compared to the Cardinals Pythagorean record at 30-30 with 282 Runs, 279 runs allowed.

Don’t feel all alone, TexasCard. The only game I attended last season was the Friday night opener for the Cardinals/Yankees series and I haven’t been downtown for a game since. My son bought a couple of nice tickets a couple of months prior to that series, did the driving and pretty much paid for everything. I enjoyed it and the Cardinals won, but even though it was a night game, it was Congo jungle hot and humid and the games just aren’t the same at the new Busch Stadium. Maybe I’m getting old and grouchy, but they constantly blare excruciatingly loud and excessively silly and annoying music over the PA system between and sometimes even during innings. The beer, peanut, popcorn and soda hawkers whose loud and boisterous voices once added more flavor to the ballpark experience seem to have been replaced by folks who are dressed like waiters and selling stuff that looks like it should be served up at an Applebees, only the prices are triple. It just wasn’t the game experience I’m accustomed to. At any rate, like I mentioned, I’m getting long in the tooth, so I’d rather pay a little for a silly TV bill, turn the thermostat down to about 60, eat an affordable hot dog with an ice cold Coca Cola and lay on the comfortable couch like a bum and watch the action with you guys…Haha!

Well, the new lineup with the two big bats coming up in the 1st inning hit the ground like a bag of wet cement. Nice catch by Adolis.

I mentioned being uncomfortable in the summer heat at a game…I’ve never been to the new ballpark in the Dallas area, but attended a handful of games, one of which was during the afternoon hours, at Arlington Stadium in the late 80’s and early 90’s before any inter-league play. That venue was a genuine convection oven. I thought I’d passed on and been placed into purgatory for 3 hours…I also attended a couple of Cardinal/Astros games at the Astrodome. I liked it better…Haha!

The angle of the camera is different in Texas. It seems far away, but also gives a better true representation of thr strike zone. The colors also look different, and it’s the same TV I always watch on.

It’s what Mo thought he was building is STL.

I was told that as a 7 year old I was brought to a game at Colt Stadium in Houston. The story is we only made it 4 or 5 innings. It is usually mentioned as the all time hottest, most miserable place to attend (or Play) a baseball game. It only existed for a few years until the Astrodome was done. I have no memory of that event.

Adam really challenged Garcia on that swinging K with 1 out and runners at 2nd and 3rd. He won that one, but I don’t know how long he’ll get away with that approach against this team.

Oh, I can imagine, Bling. Lot more humid in the Houston area. The heat probably burned it off your memory…Haha!

DeJong comes through with a nice RBI base hit. Why didn’t I expect that to happen?

I can’t say I’ve watched many games at this park, but the more I watch the more it reminds me of seeing highlights of Japanese baseball games.

The turf surface looks a little ratty. Must be all clover like our back yard…Haha!

In that shot of Knizner in the dugout he looked a lot like a young Roger Maris.

I was going to say that one time, Bikemike. He favors Roger.
