Then Bochy was hired so he may not have to pour over the spreadsheets before each at bat.

Totally agree gscott and was aware of the changes before Bochy. The Rangers’ previous pobo hired 4 rookie managers before the new guy hired Bochy. Bochy was ready to sail off to the HOF and was going to get back in the game only if it was a very good fit for himself. My comment was more of a contemptuous shot at the Cards for marginalizing the role of skipper and thinking any ol’ rookie manager will do as long as he has the magic spreadsheets in hand and stays in his lane.

I might be in error. If so I will readily admit my mistake.

I said Dusty Baker mis-managed the 4th inning. I was referring to letting his right-hander face both Seager and Carter instead of bringing in the lefty. And yes, I know Houston didn’t have a lefty in the pen. But Framber Valdez should have been available for an inning or so since it was a crucial situation in a crucial Game Seven.

I stand by my original comment.

Dusty did his best impression of the Redbird manager in the 4th, Rats. He didn’t go out there and take the baseball from France until he’d surrendered 4 singles, a double and a BB which led to 4 ER’s and a Texas 8-2 lead which effectively put the game out of reach in the 4th inning.

After the performance of Garcia in last night’s ALCS, I fully expect Tommy Pham to go 4 for 5 with 5 or 6 RBI’s in tonight’s 7th game…

The Rangers extend their sincere thanks to the dumpster fire, aka, the Cardinals front office, for handing them Montgomery for pocket change.

Dbacks push a run across in the first.

Imagine a 7th game with a NL pennant on the line and handing the baseball to a rookie pitcher that went 3-9 with a 5.72 ERA in 96 IP during the regular season. That’s the line on Brandon Pfaadt. Of course this is baseball and the great Bob Gibson was the losing pitcher of decision in the 7th game of the ’68 WS and he had a decent regular season that year.

Phillies now ahead 2-1 and still making noise in the 4th. Better get someone up and loose.

Pfaadt retires Rojas with a K to escape the 4th with the bases jammed. 2-1 Philly.

I’m a big advocate of the sac bunt and AZ just used it to push the tying run over into scoring position after a lead-off base hit, but I don’t like it in the 5th down by a solitary run.

Shows what I know…Carroll drives in the tying run with 2 outs in the 5th after the sac bunt.

Just don’t know. Carroll hits Lefty’s n rightys the same, is 2-2 in the game, I’m walking him especially after getting behind 2-0. A walk keeps him at first with a runner at second so he can’t steal. But no they throw it right down middle, he singles scoring a run, then steals easily and scores on Moreno hit. Just makes no sense to me

Now Carroll with the SB and an RBI base hit from Moreno to put the Dbacks up 3-2. Moreno out trying to advance on the throw to HP. 9-3-4.

Phillies squander a lead-off double from Schwarber in the 5th.

Might have been the right move Willie, but it really goes against convention to put the lead run on base with an IBB.

Nice play by Bohm at 3B. He looks pretty solid with the mitt over at that corner IF position.

I’m all for legitimate criticism. But what exactly was Jordan Montgomery going to do for the Cardinals in the second half? And The MVP of the Texas league isn’t pocket change. Neither is Techoah Roby. And your chances of getting Monty back are the same.

Montgomery’d have to be suffering from lunacy to return to the Cardinals under the current leadership. No chance he wears a Cardinal uniform come opening day in ’24.

Wheeler enters from the BP to end the threat, but not until AZ adds another run on a sac-fly RBI from Carroll to put the Dbacks ahead 4-2 heading into the home half of the 7th. Getting late in the day for the Phillies.

AZ places the baseball and the fate of the season into the hand of another rookie in the form of Saalfrank. He’s worked a total of 10.1 IP’ed in the Big Leagues…Haha! “Here you go big boy…a 7th game for the NL Pennant.

Saalfrank gives two free passes. That will come back to bite you……most of the time. Tying runs are on base and Saalfrank is gone.

How is it these teams send in one reliever after another and none of them come in and walk guys or serve up meatballs. These are not big money late inning guys. Typical middle relief nobody ever heard of. They throw strikes, they keep it in the park.
