1td, I started watching when it was 5-2. Eovaldi getting out of the bases-loaded, no outs jam was a big deal.
Also, did you notice what Joe Davis said about Maddux during his mound visit that inning? He said it was quite a move for the Rangers to get Maddux to leave the Cards and join the Rangers — like the “leaving and the “joining” were not two independent events.
October 16, 2023 at 6:29 pm #235799I probably had the sound muted, Euro, but whether or not they were two independent events, I’m reasonably certain Mike’s relatively pleased that he’s srtolling out to the mound for manager Bochy in place of you know who…Haha!
October 16, 2023 at 6:30 pm #235800Astros can’t afford to let this baserunner cross HP.
October 16, 2023 at 6:48 pm #235801I guess the Rangers mean business.
October 16, 2023 at 7:10 pm #235802Yeah, they haven’t lost a post-season game this year.
October 16, 2023 at 7:13 pm #235803Seems like I see Pham playing for some team in the post-season every year.
October 16, 2023 at 7:21 pm #235804Schwarber with a Rickey type tater…
October 16, 2023 at 7:23 pm #235805Whoa…Harper rips one of his own to make it 2-0 Philly!
October 16, 2023 at 7:24 pm #235806Phillies not showing any brotherly love to Gallen.

ParticipantPhillies really seemed psyched last night. Like they want it badly. They’re going to be tough to beat.
October 17, 2023 at 7:01 pm #235868I believe the Astros are the only club in the LCs series’ without a former Cardinal, thus it is anybody but them for me.
If the Phillies go to the Series, I wonder if Sosa would be the odd man out if Rhys Hoskins is activated? Now that Harper is a first baseman, could be the Edmundo may not to be part of the main event.
Always liked Sosa. I was always sort of a Phillies fan. It started when I was a kid and we traded two of my favorite players, Dick Groat and Bill White to the Phils. Then in the ‘70s it was Steve Carlton and later Bake McBride making things exciting in the City of Brotherly Love.
October 17, 2023 at 7:15 pm #235869When I was a kid getting interested in baseball is when the Curt Flood trade happened and all the uproar over that, so I always associate the Phillies with that.
October 17, 2023 at 7:23 pm #235870Turner taters Kelly 1st inning.
October 17, 2023 at 7:29 pm #235871Always liked Sosa. I was always sort of a Phillies fan.
I never liked the Phils, but like Trea Turner a lot. He’d be fun to watch everyday in a Cardinals uniform.
October 17, 2023 at 8:19 pm #235873The Cardinals seemed to do a lot of business with the Phillies during the early part of 70’s. Bling mentioned Flood and we all know about Carlton/Wise and one of Bikemike’s favorites in the form of Richie Allen. Bake McBride was another Redbird that went east to Philly and Lonnie Smith, who I believe was the offensive catalyst for the ’82 WS championship team came over in a trade with the Phillies in the ’81 off-season. In any event, the changing of the guard in the old NLE during the early to mid 70’s saw the Phillies as the dominant team in that division for quite awhile. It’s always been my view that they had the most feared player in either league in the form of Mike Schmidt who stayed that way for 10 years or so. He was a genuine nightmare to this Cardinal fan.
October 17, 2023 at 8:28 pm #235874Don’t forget the trade involving Scott Rolen, Placido Polanco,Bud Smith, et al.
October 17, 2023 at 8:34 pm #235875That kid in the stands wearing the Philadelphia, Flyers sweater made me think of the toothless and menacing looking Bobby Clarke and the back to back Stanley Cup winning “Broad Street Bullies” of the mid 70’s. I was a bandwagon sort of Blues fan in those days and those Flyer teams were hated all over the NHL. Not only were they a mean bunch, but also a very good hockey team. I remember listening to Dan Kelly calling quite a few lengthy bouts of fisticuffs on the radio that involved the Blues and Flyers. Those hockey players really tried to murder one another back then…Haha!
October 17, 2023 at 8:37 pm #235876Oh yeah, no question about Rolen, Euro. We got lucky to get him and although things could change, I still hold Scott Rolen in higher esteem that the current 3B’man.
October 17, 2023 at 8:50 pm #235877Schwarber with another. He likes those twice baked taters…
October 17, 2023 at 8:51 pm #2358781td, I agree with that.
October 17, 2023 at 8:56 pm #235879The second tater might have been smoked instead of baked.
October 17, 2023 at 8:59 pm #235880Philly has too much danger in its lineup for the DBacks.
October 17, 2023 at 9:54 pm #235881Yeah, it sure looks that way. This is a genuine rout. At least AZ returns home. The Astros have to travel to Dallas down 2-0, but somehow I have a feeling that they have a better chance to climb out the trap than the Dbacks. We’ll see what happens.
