Adolis having a monster game seven! If Monty can pitch like he has done and give them a good 4 innings or so, the Rangers will win the AL pennant.
October 23, 2023 at 8:34 pm #236197Make that a 6 run lead and 14 RBI’s for Adolis in this ALCS. He’s pushing across runs like he’s angry.
October 23, 2023 at 8:36 pm #236198Garcia just broke is own Texas record of 17 postseason RBIs with 2 more. The running count is now 19.
October 23, 2023 at 8:38 pm #236199If Garcia was any good, he’d steal home here.
October 23, 2023 at 8:39 pm #236200You’re a little late, Dusty. Should have went out there and taken the baseball from France yesterday.
October 23, 2023 at 8:43 pm #236201Garcia still 2 single post-season RBI’s shy of Freese’s 21 in ’11. He may still have at least 4 more games to catch David.
October 23, 2023 at 8:52 pm #236202Right now Garcia’s tied with Spezio, Alomar Jr. and Ortiz for second place with 19 RBI’s in a single post-season. Seager collected 20 RBI’s in ’20, but I don’t count that season. No fans, no record…
October 23, 2023 at 9:12 pm #236203It cannot be disputed that Dusty Baker COMPLETELY mis-managed the top of the 4th.
If Houston is smart this will be his last game as their manager.

October 23, 2023 at 9:14 pm #236204If Texas holds on Montgomery should be in line for the W. He’s been more than effective in 2.1 IP’ed so far.
October 23, 2023 at 9:53 pm #236206Who is the ALCS MVP? Gotta be Adolis Garcia. The dude is a freak!!
October 23, 2023 at 9:56 pm #236207Garcia with another HR in the 8th. Now 20 RBIs this postseason. Score is 11-3.
Bochy is evidently better than some other managers at taking the front office spreadsheet edicts and putting them into action.
October 23, 2023 at 10:07 pm #236208Whatever he is, he’s successful. The one series that will always stand out to me was the ’12 WS four game sweep of the Giants over the Tigers. I was pulling for Detroit after what the Giants had done to the Cardinals after they held a 3-1 game lead in that season’s NLCS and were one win away from another pennant. Three of those 4 WS games were very close and were up for grabs by either team. It was the first time that I really took any notice of Bruce Bochy as a manager. He’s a good one.

France did not exactly help things any.
October 23, 2023 at 10:22 pm #236210In the game of baseball it’s no good to have a name of a European country, Bikemike. A last name such as Cuba, Dominican, Rico, Mexico, or even Tokyo would be okay, but names like France, Sweden or Poland are no good in baseball. And we both know if Dusty would have handed the baseball to a guy named Manny that the Astros would have had a chance…
October 24, 2023 at 4:52 am #236211Monty was the winning pitcher.
October 24, 2023 at 5:37 am #236213Bochy is evidently better than some other managers at taking the front office spreadsheet edicts and putting them into action
Some front offices are better than others at accepting diverse philosophies.
October 24, 2023 at 6:56 am #236217Rumors are that Dusty is going to retire. At age 74, why not?
October 24, 2023 at 8:23 am #236219I’m not sad the Astros lost. They have stayed really good for a long time. They didn’t just hit the lottery and put a couple of great seasons together.
Do we think it’s Luhnow?
He was with the Cardinals 2003-11 and the Astros from 2011-2020.
The Cardinals spun down by 2015 about 4 years after he left.
If the Astros start to decline next year – 2024, the parallel will be pretty hard to deny…
He’s an owner / executive of a Mexican League team right now.
October 24, 2023 at 8:38 am #236221Yeah, he sure was, Gamecard. And I don’t think it’s any coincidence that Monte sort of rhymes with Manny. Whatever the cost, Johnny needs to add at least one Manny.

The Stros hired Baker and the Cardinals hired Matheny, so I don’t think they are following the same post-Luhnow path. But we’ll see where they go from here. They might still just hand the keys to the wonks and wait for the magic.
October 24, 2023 at 9:49 am #236226I’ve never understood why the Astros 2017 title wasn’t stripped. It’s very clear they cheated. A lot.
October 24, 2023 at 10:19 am #236230Yeah, and unlike almost everyone else, they got caught.
October 24, 2023 at 10:27 am #236231Even back in 2018 with Memphis, it was clear Adolis Garcia was an October player… (Stubby at left) pic.twitter.com/1snzoiYlgq

Actually the Rangers canned their longtime analytic guru of a PBO and replaced him with a guy who actually played baseball. Then Bochy was hired so he may not have to pour over the spreadsheets before each at bat.
October 24, 2023 at 10:36 am #236233With 20 RBI’s during this year’s post-season, he’s almost assuredly going to eclipse David Freese’s record of 21 post-season RBI’s. It took Freese 18 games to push across 21. Garcia’s pushed across 20 in 12 games. Whoever plays Texas will probably be best served by refusing to work to him.
