I’m entirely convinced that teams that are playing high stakes games to the very end of the regular season are not only more up to game speed, but also thoroughly conditioned and accustomed to the high pressure, do or die atmosphere of a short series during post-season baseball. They’re loose and well prepared to take on live fire, so to speak. Whereas the teams that clinch a berth half way through September and receive a first round bye are not unlike unseasoned troops being exposed to their first taste of genuine battle in quite some time. In short, if you’ve developed some calluses on your hands, you’re less likely to take on blisters.

JJ alluded to Roberts handing the baseball to Lance Lynn in an elimination game. When I tuned in and saw Lynn was taking a turn, I immediately thought to myself, “Bad idea.” I liked Lynn when he was a Cardinal, but he’s always been prone to being victimized by the HR. Some of you may recall that it was Lance Lynn who surrendered back to back taters to Beltre and Cruz in the 7th inning of a tie game during game 6 of the ’11 WS.

Another thing that has obviously hurt the Dodgers is something that has left me utterly perplexed for quite some time, and that’s the seeming inability of Clayton Kershaw to take the baseball and win the first game of any given post-season series. Kershaw has to be one of the top ten dominant SP’ers that I’ve seen play in my lifetime and I literally drool when I watch the big lefthander work to Big League hitters when he’s taking a turn in which he seems unhittable. But for some odd reason he can’t seem to extend that dominance into post-season play. If that weren’t the case, the Dodgers may well have 3 or 4 WS titles in the last ten years.

Last year the two top seeds in the NL were the Dodgers and Braves. Neither advanced to the NLCS. It looks like history could repeat itself.

With Kershaw and post season, the Dodgers keep doing the same thing and expect a different result.

Already at 2-0, with an avg game score of 65, Nola is supporting his free agency very well.

They sure do, but considering the performances he displays during the regular season you can hardly blame them when they keep running him out there. He just can’t seem to get it done in the post-season. You’re right though…When is enough, enough?

The Phillies look like they’re wearing road uniforms from thr mid to late 70’s.

Another circus catch from Harris in CF results in a DP to end the 2nd inning and douse a serious 1st and 2nd with 1 out Philly threat. He’s pulling the Braves out of the fire in this series.

Strider and the Braves dodge another threat in the 3rd inning. Philly’s had it’s chances to push across some early runs, but nothing up on the board.

Castellanos and Philly answer back in the home half of the 4th with a solo tater of their own to make it 1-1.

Another solo HR, this time from Turner, to push Philly ahead 2-1 in 5th. Charlie Lindbergh must be in attendance…

Four solo taters tonight…It’s Charlie Linbergh and the Spirit of St. Louis in Philly! Either that, or The Man From Uncle is making his presense felt…Haha!

Getting late in the day for the Braves. Without question they have the bats to string some hits together and score some runs, but they’d better be patient in the box and get some baserunners aboard. And just as I key that in Ozuna first pitch swinging pops one up for the first out of the 7th. Not too smart.

Alvarado did his best to give the Braves a chance. Kimbrel coming in the 2 outs in the 7th. High leverage time now, worry about who closes it later. Playoff approach I guess.
