What was Flaherty thinking?? Have never seen that where a pitcher tries to get the guy at second with no one on first. You look the runner back and take the out at first every time on that. Crazy mistake.

Just finished off a good ol’ roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with baked potatoes and carrots for din-din, finishing off with a nice slice of butterscotch brownie.

Jack ain’t helping his own cause.

Oh oh. Bases crammed with cubbies here in the 2nd with only 1 out. And equally disturbing is that Flaherty already had thrown 41 pitches in 1 1/3 innings of labor. Get it going, Jack!

Masterful din-din selection, Cardinal In France……you really know how to eat.

Jacks circus on full display. Needs to finish his rehab in the minors. Can not locate.

Flaherty got himself in trouble. But then got himself out with some good pitches. Good inning for Jack. Needed to see him compete when he was in trouble. And he did.

Flaherty escaped unscathed in the 2nd……other than a gob of additional pitches, that will not bode well for his longevity in this game.

    Lucky.

And already 50 pitches after just two innings.

Jack needs to step things up post haste.

He gets out of it, but throws extra pitches to where he is near 50 after two innings. Watching Flaherty pitch is down right painful. As JJ said, he has no command. It should get better as he throws more, but really should be doing this in the minors and Woodford and maybe Libby are taking rotation turns.

“It may not be as far fetched as one might think, Tscurlo”

Oh I agree completely that it may not be far fetched. I think it is a good move to switch
Donovan and Gorman in the lineup.

Glad to see Flaherty come back and get those two outs…. after the defensive mistakes that happened.

Hope he settles in… and our bats start hitting.

Herrera with his first big league hit after a rough early go. Our club goes first-to-third as good as any team in the league.

Announcers saying Flaherty is likely done for some unknown reason.

It’s amazing the Cards gave BLM Jack 5 Million. They must be loaded $$$. I heard they pay batboys half a million..

I tell ya, Brendan Donovan takes as good of at bats as about anyone on our club. And now Edman gets picked off. We are making a lot of mistakes early on in this one. Two errors and now losing a runner to a pick off.

“Right shoulder stiffness” has taken Flaherty out of this game. Wittgren on in relief.

Donovan sure is, BicycleMike. He’s so frequently taken pitching counts full. Pez isn’t bad at making pitchers work either.

Bullpen already? Despite the rough going I figured they would keep Jack out there another inning at least.

Jack has shoulder stiffness. I bet mngmt. wishes they had that 5 Mil. back.

It takes Witty only 10 pitches to dispatch Chicago in the 3rd inning. Still 2-0 Good Guys.

Hey Big Mack. Yeah, Birds not getting much bang for their buck with Jack this……. Donovan just whacks a solo blow to right! 3-0 Birds

Man, the cubs bring out the very worst in this team.

Been like this since the start of last year. When not playing each other over the past season and a half, the Cards are 24 games over .500 and the cubs are 36 games under .500. Head-to-head it’s almost a dead heat: Cards 14 wins, cubs 12. Every game is like a root canal; best you can say is you’re relieved when it’s over.

It seems clear Jack is not up to it physically or mentally.

Coming into today, Wittgren has faced 40 June (2022) batters, allowing a 60 ops+.

Goldy home run #18 makes it 4-0……beauty shot! Could Arenado make it 3 straight?…..and just as I say that he goes around a bit too hastily and whacks it 400 feet, but foul.

Pez now joins the 4th inning Home Run Club with a majestic tater to left …5-0 Cards. And that bomb right there puts the Cards over the magical 1000 feet club for the inning.
