Carlson stretches a single into a double. Definitely not pretty. We get banana peppers all the time on our subs yum-yum Euro !
September 27, 2022 at 8:40 pm #202612Knizner making contact tonight- get another one!
September 27, 2022 at 8:41 pm #202613Knizner narrowly misses 2 doubles on foul balls, then grounds out 5-3. Edman now with a 2-out chance to bring in Carlson at 3B.
September 27, 2022 at 8:45 pm #202614Awfully quiet in MIL, but they’ll be plenty of noise in the visitor’s clubhouse if the Cardinals hold on.
September 27, 2022 at 8:48 pm #202615Haha! I didn’t like the idea of PH’ing for Donovan. Shows what I know!
September 27, 2022 at 8:48 pm #202616Yepez delivers as pinch hitter for Donovan. Ambushes Milner to drive in Carlson.
September 27, 2022 at 8:49 pm #202617Brewers pitcher switch countered by Ollie with Yepez first pitch rbi!
September 27, 2022 at 8:51 pm #202618Mikolas pitching what is sure to be his last inning in the 6th. DeJong in at SS now.
September 27, 2022 at 8:54 pm #202619That’s 9 K’s in 5.1 IP for Mikolas. And just as I key that in he allows the tater to Telez.
September 27, 2022 at 9:01 pm #202620If the Redbirds clinch tonight, it’s fitting that Mikolas should get the W. I’d have to say he’s been the best and most consistent Redbird SP’er over the long haul since April.
September 27, 2022 at 9:04 pm #202621Dickerson is now 0 for his last 20. If O’Neill is back before the season ends, I think I’d prefer that Corey be left off the October roster. Even if he isn’t back I’m not sure that he merits a spot.
Yes. And why I said I’d hit Edman 2nd, Nootbaar 5th, and the LF 7th. Also I was looking at a potential playoff roster and who might not make it earlier today.
1. Donovan 2B
2. Edman SS
3. Goldschmidt 1B
4. Arenado 3B
5. Nootbaar RF
6. Pujols DH
7. O’Neill LF (healthy?)
8. Molina C
9. Carlson CFDeJong, Dickerson, Yepez, DeLuzio, Knizner
OFF: Burleson, Gorman, HerreraMikolas, Montgomery, Wainwright
Quintana(L), Flaherty, Hicks(healthy?), Romero(L), Stratton, Pallante, Thompson(L), Gallegos, Helsley
OFF: Matz(L), Hudson, Cabrera(L), Naile. Naughton(L)
September 27, 2022 at 9:09 pm #202622Speaking of Dickerson, swings come and go from season to season, month to month, etc. Defense usually doesn’t work that way. How did Dickerson win a gold glove? I don’t see it.

stlcard25ParticipantI would take either Gorman or Burleson over Dickerson for sure. At least they have some pop in the bats. Although Gorman has been ice cold even in the minors, I’d rather take the chance that he runs into one.
Once things are clinched I’d like to see Burleson get some starts to see if he can figure out MLB pitching a bit.
September 27, 2022 at 9:12 pm #202624Pallante walks the first batter up 6-1. Baseball is frustrating sometimes.
And next he give up a hit on center cut stuff. Oli, short leash please.
And next he gets the grounder for the DP. Back on track.
September 27, 2022 at 9:13 pm #202625Time for Pallante to get someone out. Get with it.
September 27, 2022 at 9:16 pm #202626EuroDandy…I don’t see it either, in regards to a GG for Dickerson. It’s not at all unlike I felt once I got a look at Ozuna in LF.
September 27, 2022 at 9:16 pm #202627Dang, what was Goldy thinking? Mental mistake.
Pallante controls the damage with an inning ending groundout. Seems like the Cards dodged something painful that inning.
September 27, 2022 at 9:18 pm #202628Gift run by us I guess. Great game by Mikolas-let’s finish this one up!
September 27, 2022 at 9:24 pm #202629Edman double!
September 27, 2022 at 9:24 pm #202630It’s not at all unlike I felt once I got a look at Ozuna in LF.
Comparing others’ defense to Ozuna’s is an insult to bad outfielders all across MLB.
September 27, 2022 at 9:26 pm #202631DeJong being DeJong. On to the bottom of the 8th.
September 27, 2022 at 9:28 pm #202632Danny M. just made a big deal out of Eddie having 30 doubles and 31 SB’s this season. Heck, he had 41 doubles and 30 SB’s last season. I’ve been a little disappointed at the drop off in his doubles this year.
September 27, 2022 at 9:30 pm #202633EuroDandy…Yep, and Ozuna won a GG when he was in FL.
September 27, 2022 at 9:31 pm #202634Marmol again going with Helsley against the high leverage part of the opponent’s lineup rather than waiting for the 9th. That works, especially when Gio is going well like he has been lately.
September 27, 2022 at 9:33 pm #202635On the hit by Mitchell in the 7th, I’m not sure the Cardinals would have got an out if Goldschmidt went straight to the bag. He was flying down the line. I had heard he had speed but I didn’t realize it was that kind of speed. He is “only” rated at 70 speed by MLB.com
