Pugs…WINNER! That’s good enough…He was also involved in 3 triple plays as a fielder in his career. He was pretty decent with the glove work…
September 23, 2022 at 9:32 pm #2021011td, then it’s got to be a milestone like 3000 Ks, 200 wins, 300 wins, one million knuckle balls, etc., but I don’t know. Let somebody else weigh in if they know.
September 23, 2022 at 9:40 pm #202102EuroDandy…The 200 wins is correct…WINNER! I’ll give it to you even though you submitted four answers…Haha! You deserve it for nailing the right name to begin with. In May of 1979 Dale Murphy caught the game that was Phil Neikro’s 200th win. Murphy may well have been the best all around baseball player in either league for 4 or 5 years. He could do it all for a while.
September 23, 2022 at 9:43 pm #202103Pugs… WINNER!
Quite possibly the two sweetest words on the planet, huh gang? Thank you, TD…….thank you very much.
Hilarious clip on the pseudo home run trot, Euro Dandy! That must have been one whale of a wind gust blowing in from left.

Lol, GPA boosting trick in high school.
September 23, 2022 at 9:43 pm #202105Darn Apple TV. When I try to use my email they say it is already being used and when I try to get access using my email they say it is not known. GRRR
September 23, 2022 at 9:45 pm #202106Pugs…Haha! You’re welcome, my friend. Now, let’s hang that tag on this ballgame!
September 23, 2022 at 9:49 pm #202107Speaking of Murphy, he could do a lot. I grew up in an area of mostly Braves fans, including father, brother, and uncles. It was hard to not like the guy.
September 23, 2022 at 9:52 pm #202108SoonerinNC…It’s a pain in the backside. Thankfully, I stopped messing with it while the furniture was still intact…
September 23, 2022 at 9:52 pm #202109Any tech savvy posters out there who can help Sooner with his Apple access? I had my 6 year old granddaughter help me gain access tonight, as the wifey was having coffee at her friend’s house a couple doors down.
September 23, 2022 at 9:57 pm #202110#699!!!! Tonight may be the night for the big one ……”The Big Red One” if you will, which also is the title of a fantastic Lee Marvin war movie.
September 23, 2022 at 9:57 pm #202111OH MY GOODNESS! 699!
September 23, 2022 at 9:58 pm #202112A couple thoughts for Sooner. If you are trying that through a browser, then maybe clear cache and try again.
Or, if there is some sort of real conflict with your current email credentials that cannot be resolved, you might try using a second email address if you have one. Within just a few minutes you should be able to create another account with the 2nd email address and get logged in.
And Pujols goes 699.
September 23, 2022 at 10:00 pm #202113EuroDandy…Yeah, Murphy was not only incredibly good for those few years, but also really likeable. He sure took a quick slide. Bad knees, I think.

ParticipantDale Murphy was great for a few seasons but just as quickly as he was great, he was then equally horrible. When you were as great as Murphy was, you will usually get offers just because someone hopes they catch lightning in a bottle by having you when the magic returns. That tells you how bad Murphy got. One of the great mysteries of the sports world. Usually it’s an injury that causes something like that but far as I know that wasn’t the case.
September 23, 2022 at 10:02 pm #202115I strongly suspect that Pujols son of a gun is going to reach 700 HR’s. I thought he had no chance in April. I should have known better.
September 23, 2022 at 10:04 pm #2021161982Willie…Pretty sure he had knee problems that weren’t related to an injury.
September 23, 2022 at 10:06 pm #202117Go get ’em, Albert!!!
September 23, 2022 at 10:12 pm #202118I should have saved this for a trivia question, but it occured to me and I verified it by looking it up. Roger Maris and Dale Murphy are the only two players eligible for the HOF to ever win back to back MVP awards and not be voted entry.
September 23, 2022 at 10:13 pm #202119Sure looks as if Albert has taken Pez under his wing. Pez looks at Albert as if he’s some sort of God. If Albert gets one more, I may look at Albert with the same reverence.

ParticipantNo Murphys numbers never seemed that out of the threshold. I don’t believe he was using steroids. Far as knee problems, I read up on him and nothing ever mentioned that as a possible excuse. I also don’t think that if even true could really explain his fall. Mattingly had serious back problems but remained a pretty solid hitter til his retirement.
September 23, 2022 at 10:22 pm #202121I seriously doubt Murphy ever took steroids. His peak years were way before all of that stuff was revealed. If he was doing that he would have had no reason to stop. His downfall coincided with his knee issues of the wear and tear variety. They are well documented. He had surgical procedures on both knees during a short time period. He was never the same player after that. He put up 6 consecutive seasons where he averaged nearly 6 WAR. That is elite level.
September 23, 2022 at 10:22 pm #202122Pugs…You never really know. The way I see it, if you don’t get caught, how can anyone make a case against you? I never even heard any hearsay in regards to Murphy.
September 23, 2022 at 10:22 pm #202123Heaney out of the game after 3 2/3 innings.
September 23, 2022 at 10:23 pm #202124There it is, 700!
