Here are the #STLCards and #Nats lineups for tonight’s game at Busch Stadium. Yadier Molina is back in the starting lineup but Albert Pujols is not. Newcomer Alec Burleson, promoted today from Triple-A Memphis, is not starting tonight. pic.twitter.com/xJdR5gn1hF

September 7, 2022 at 3:11 pm #199534So is Burleson in the lineup tonight? I’m assuming so.
September 7, 2022 at 3:16 pm #199537I don’t like O’Niell in CF and he sure seem like the only option for it now. I guess Nootbaar is probably the backup CF and Edman the 3rd option for CF?
September 7, 2022 at 3:18 pm #199538667, you forgot about DeLuzio, who is a very good CF.
September 7, 2022 at 3:18 pm #199539CardFrance…Sounds as though you enjoyed quite a few ballgames at the old venue. I was only there twice that I’m aware of. I also recall being really impressed by how the players were seemingly able to complete virtually every fielding play. I kept anticipating a mistake every time the ball was put into play, but it never happened…These guys were perfect!

You’re right. I sure did.
September 7, 2022 at 3:33 pm #199542It’s funny how our lineup used to lean very right handed. Now we have many more capable lefty hitters.
September 7, 2022 at 3:34 pm #199543What’s the chances Walker gets promoted to AAA to finish the year, who’s now short Burleson and Capel in the OF?
September 7, 2022 at 3:48 pm #199546On the good news front……Colorado leads Milwaukee 7-1 in the 5th at Mile High Stadium. Could we possibly be 9.5 games up after close of business tonight?
Pugs? Din-din today at the Gasthof Amish Restaurant was fried chicken, mashed potatoes/gravy, green beans, noodles, dressing, meatloaf, come blackberry cobbler, and some chocolate soft serve ice cream. Then afterwards a 7×50 Palma Real cigar out on the front porch area of the restaurant.
And Judge just yanked his 55th homer of the season. Plus the Mets just placed Scherzer on the IL with an oblique issue.

September 7, 2022 at 3:52 pm #199548The ol’ thumb sprain trick. September injuries can be convenient.
September 7, 2022 at 4:01 pm #199550
jj-cf-stlParticipantThey don’t need a phantom injury to demote Carlson. Seems legit to me.
September 7, 2022 at 4:17 pm #199554Maybe rules for post season eligibility are different now.
September 7, 2022 at 4:44 pm #199556Colorado leads Milwaukee 8-2 after eight at Mile High Stadium. Three outs to go!
September 7, 2022 at 4:58 pm #199559Colorado wins over Milwaukee. 8-4 Rockies is your happy final. Redbirds up 9.0 games heading into tonight’s action! Could we go up 9.5 games at the end of play tonight???
September 7, 2022 at 5:23 pm #199560Rats – you did not really have all of that for din-din did you? You list two or three main courses and a couple of sides, plus dessert. Man, that would be three days worth of din-dins at the Bike Mike household.
September 7, 2022 at 5:32 pm #199563I meant to ask this several weeks ago and forgot about it, but was reminded by the presence of Sept. call ups. I’m certain that Cesar Cenedo came over to the Cardinals via a trade with the Reds in ’85. I’m not sure of the precise date, but I’m certain it was around late Aug. or early Sept. because the Redbirds were locked into a dead heat race for the NLE crown with the Mets. My question is, does anyone remember or know the circumstances that allowed a trade that late in the season?
September 7, 2022 at 5:40 pm #199564Bling…Haha! “The ol’ thumb sprain trick” Sometimes those ol’ Indian tricks are pretty effective. Just ask Todd Helton and Matt Carpenter about the ol’ hidden ball trick…
September 7, 2022 at 5:41 pm #199565Rat eats like a king. Din din for me was a ham sandwich, a real fatty.
We already had some talent from the left side but maybe Burly will add some thumpage.

stlcard25ParticipantYou’ve got to imagine that if Burleson makes it to the park on time, he will probably be a pinch hitter if they need someone against a righty.

August trades used to be allowed if the player was passed through waivers first. That is no longer the rule.
September 7, 2022 at 6:12 pm #199570BW…Thanks! I tried to look it up and couldn’t find anything other than the precise date of the trade, which was Aug. 29th, and who the Cardinals traded to get him, which was a guy I don’t remember named Mark Jackson. Nothing at all anywhere was mentioned regarding waivers or why the trade was allowed at that late date. I’m guessing that the Cardinals had to give someone up in a quasi-type trade as compensation after snapping him up once he passed through waivers?
September 7, 2022 at 6:22 pm #199572Cedeno tore it up for us during the closing weeks of ‘85. Think he hit like .450 or something along those lines.
Great player in his prime. Looked to be a future Famer, but never quite lived up to that.
September 7, 2022 at 6:25 pm #199573Indeed, Bling & BicycleMike. Nobody…..not even that perennial hot dog eating champion, Joey Chestnut, can devour more food at one setting, than our very own RatsBuddy. My 44 year old wifey, 28 year old daughter and 6 year old granddaughter, get the biggest kick at what Rat eats at the Gasthof every Wednesday. I usually do not divulge Rat’s comments about the hot waitresses to the family though.

In the old August rules. if a player was claimed off waivers, he could only go to that team. If a player cleared waivers, he could be traded to any team. I don’t know which situation applied to this case.
September 7, 2022 at 6:33 pm #199575I never know if Rats is listing the options on the menu and chooses form among the mains and sides, or is saying he actually consumes all of that. Fried chicken and meatloaf and mashed potatoes and noodles?? Man, I would be sick as an newbie sailor on his first trip to the high seas if I could even consume all that. Dessert would be out of the question.
I am impressed. I look to see Rats in the next Nathan’s hot dog eating contest, with a Cardinal hat on.
