BikeMike…Yeah, he ripped it up for the last month of season and compensated for Clark being sidelined for a bit. If not for him, the Mets could have very well taken the NLE crown.

BW…Thanks again! I looked all over and was surprised that I couldn’t find anything definitive. I’ve actually thought about that subject in past seasons around the trade deadline, but never took the time to research it. I was pretty sure that the elite squad on this site could clear it up…Haha!

I look to see Rat in the next Nathan’s hot dog eating contest, with a Cardinal hat on.

Joey Chestnut would have to issue a challenge to Rat……and then it would be GAME ON, BicycleMike. I think it’s a challenge that Joey would forever regret.

Cedeno was one of my favs too as a small child, TD. While on the topic, here were a few of my non-Cardinal favorites as a kid:

Houston…… Caesar Cedeno & Jimmy “The Toy Cannon” Wynn.

    Montreal…..Rusty Staub & Boots Day.

    Atlanta…..Felix Millan & Rico Carry.

SF Giants……Willie McCovey & Juan Marichal.

Cleveland Indians……. George Hendrick & Buddy Bell.

KC Royals…….Amos Otis & John Mayberry.

    Chicago Cubs…….None.

Cards667…Yeah, I like ’em both okay, but they can certainly be annoying sometimes. What’s worse, is that between innings I’m subjected to the broken record precise same 5 or 6 ads. I have to quickly reach for the control on the coffee table to mute them and risk an E-1TD on the exchange as I knock over my Coca Cola…

Pugs…Haha! “Chicago Cubs….None” Even though Gibson could not get him out, I always liked Willy Billiams…

Edit; Now that I think about it, Gibson used to have a hard time with Rusty Staub too. He was no joke!

Pugs, you are bringing back memories. Mostly of baseball cards since we seldom got tô see many of those guys play back in the days of one game on TV per week.

Carioca…And no Cardinal games on TV during any homestand. Like you mentioned, the only solace was the televised match-up that NBC would feature on the Saturday Game of the Week. Everything else was on my Realistic/Radio Shack transistor in those days. But I tell you what…I’d sure go back if I could…Haha!

I don’t dislike either, I know it could be way worse, but they get to rambling and I just want to watch baseball. I didn’t fully mute them, but the volume is quite low where I can tune them out when I want to.

There are a couple former Cardinals I pull hard for and really like them. I know their game isn’t always the best, especially the OBP, and they wouldn’t have a spot on the current team or didn’t really when they were traded. But I have always really liked Randall Grichuk and Lane Thomas. They seemed to have that Donovan or Edman hustle and always giving their absolute best all the time.

Two points BB, about Carlson / Burleson.

    1) Did you notice the CF backup DeLuzio was added to the roster on Sept 1st?

That suggests to me that Carlsons injury has a history of a week or so. Who brings DeLucio up before Burleson unless it’s to meet a possible defensive need?

    2) If they wanted Burleson up before Sept 1st, it would have happened.

Cards667…When Grich played his first full season here, I thought he’d be a Cardinal for quite a while. I just looked him up. He’s still only 30 and has tatered-up 171 times in his career. Not too bad at all.

Wow Jordan Montgomery. This dude looks like an ace.

This Abbott certainly knew where to work Gorman…he hit the same spots over and over again, and Gorman kept biting.

Hammerfist…He sure does! And a bargain is an understatement. He’s 5-0 and the Redbirds are 6-0 in his 6 turns prior to tonight’s game.

I think Montgomery is our co-Ace, along with Waino, Hammer. Indeed TD……had not realized Randal had popped that many career homers. If he continues play in Colorado, he could “go yard”(that’s for Cardinal In France) close to 300 times before he hangs them up. Kind of surprising too that with those tater numbers, that he’s never surpassed 81 RBI.

Nootbaar hitting .100 in his last 7 games and .170 in his last 15…could have used a base knock there.

Yeah Pugs, like I mentioned, he really impressed me in his first full season. I recall how quickly he seemed to get the bat started.

I think he is too. Right now I trust him more than any of the other starters.

Pugs…You mentioned never more than 81 RBI’s in a season for Grich. It reminded me of the season in which Gyorko hit 30 HR’s, yet still only collected 59 RBI’s. Something’s inherently wrong with that…Haha!

Maybe the big kids can hang some more runs on the board for Monte this half inning.
