Speaking of old and no hitters, I used to listen to KMOX Cards broadcasts in NC as a youngster. The signal would fade in and out some, but it was good enough to listen to some nights. I happened to catch Buck’s broadcast of Gibson’s no hitter in 1971 against the Pirates. I was 12 y/o and will never forget how fortunate I thought I was that night to tune in and hear it live.
September 3, 2022 at 9:01 pm #198949I heard it too, Euro. As a 7 year old in Wisconsin. The later in the evening it became, the better the signal. KMOX was impossible to get when it was light out.
September 3, 2022 at 9:02 pm #198950Sorry Carter….I certainly should have known who I was dealing with.
That made me smile, Pugs
September 3, 2022 at 9:02 pm #198951Yeah, the 56 game hit streak is a tough one, but we all saw Rose come somewhat within striking distance, but 3 no hitters in a row? Say a guy pitches one. Okay, that’s great! And then on his very next turn, he tosses another and that’s a miracle in and of itself. But then, he still has to work another no hitter on his very next start to eclipse Vander Meer. It’s as close to impossible as is water to being wet.

September 3, 2022 at 9:05 pm #198953Frightening pic, Carter. That’s not really you is it? If so, I’m saying nothing that will perturb you from this day forth.
September 3, 2022 at 9:06 pm #198954Jo Jo has been great, Oliver. I think we got the better of the deal with Philly.
September 3, 2022 at 9:08 pm #198955Eddie robbed of extras…….TD and GameCard are not going to like that.
September 3, 2022 at 9:08 pm #198956Eddie just got his pocket picked. Nice snag by Happ.
September 3, 2022 at 9:13 pm #198957Day game tomorrow, boys
September 3, 2022 at 9:16 pm #198958Obviously it helps that the Redbirds are playing so well, but Marmol seems to have a good rapport with all of his field soldiers. There may be a distinct positive aspect as far as him being a manager who is only 35 years of age.
September 3, 2022 at 9:17 pm #198959I think Gio’s arm has been livelier the last couple outings. His breaking stuff has been nastier. Hope I didn’t jinx him.
September 3, 2022 at 9:24 pm #198960Another W and another season high water mark of 23 games above sea level. Dodgers? Mets? Braves? The St. Louis, Cardinals can play with any of those guys.
GO REDBIRDS!
September 3, 2022 at 9:28 pm #198961I heard it too, Euro. As a 7 year old in Wisconsin. The later in the evening it became, the better the signal. KMOX was impossible to get when it was light out.
Yep, I probably got better reception than you for many games since I was much farther east, especially the early innings.
September 3, 2022 at 9:36 pm #198963AZ. just tied it up with MIL. 4-4 in the 6th.
September 3, 2022 at 9:39 pm #198964AZ takes a 5-4 lead vs. MIL in the 6th.
September 3, 2022 at 9:46 pm #198965Arizona now leads 6-4 after six innings.
September 3, 2022 at 9:56 pm #198966Redbirds turned 4 DP’s tonight. That’s a beautiful thing.
September 3, 2022 at 10:00 pm #198967Ratsbuddy…Milwaukee’s getting to be so far back you can’t see them anymore. Time to start seriously grinding away at a Mets 6.5 game lead. It’ll be difficult with no head to head games, but certainly not out of reach.

1td, more difficult than it seems at first glance, I think. You also have to pass the Braves too for it to matter. Braves are super motivated to win the division too. I just checked and both their schedules look favorable the rest of the way.
So if it doesn’t happen, I’m going with the WC series is actually a blessing because it’ll keep the team sharp while the East winner might get a little flat. 😉
September 3, 2022 at 11:27 pm #198969I’m happy the Brewers won. 7.5 games is enough. I’d like to see the Padres get the fuzzy end of the lollipop.
September 4, 2022 at 6:51 am #198978Having Yadi Molina steal 3rd base on you at any point in his career is embarrassing. Having him do as a near crippled 40 years old should make you think your career as a catcher. Glad it happened against the Cubs 🙂

jj-cf-stlParticipantAdam with a clunker, GmSc of 33.
Total bases: Edman 6, Goldschmidt 5, O’Neill 4, Molina 3
——
current scoreless streaks (pen):
Thompson 15.0 IP
Gallegos 7.2
Hicks 6.0
Romero 6.0
Woodford 5.1
Pallante 4.0
Stratton 3.2
Helsley 1.1The last time the pen allowed an ER was Wainwrights last start, when Helsley gave up a HR. This time thru the rotation, 0 ER.
The last time Thompson allowed an ER at the mlb level was in his start back in June. He has some demotion time since, but also has 11 games and 15 IP of scoreless relief since.
September 4, 2022 at 9:23 am #198982If Ozzie would have been fond of the shift, it was probably due to him being able to field one side of the field all by himself.
September 4, 2022 at 9:26 am #198983What is Edman’s arm supposed to be like? I watched several throws from him last night that concerned me. Several times it looked like we were going to get double plays or an out but the throw from Edman wasn’t there in time.
