1td, not a Bonds fans, but I recall in his 73-HR season, he had tremendous plate discipline. Pitchers often wouldn’t pitch to him even though they weren’t intentionally walking him. He just wouldn’t swing at the bad ones.

EuroDandy…I never was a Bonds fan even before he was obviously amping himself up, but I have to acknowledge and concede that he was the best left-handed hitter I’ve ever seen swing a bat. 232 BB’s in ’04 of which 120 were of the IBB variety. THAT’S a typo that ISN’T a typo…Barry was a jerk, but he was no joke.

Yuck, DeJug in the lineup. How many times has he struck out over his last 20 at bats?

8 in the last 20 or 22 PAs, which is 4 less than Gorman.

    Euro…Another little tid-bit from that ’04 season…617 PA’s. How many AB’s? 373. Haha!

LeGrand…Haha! So, you mean if the Redbird manager ever places them at both middle IF positions simultaneously it’ll be not at all unlike those two Eastern European beauties from Montenegro?

Euro Dandy…….I never was a Bonds fan

Me either. At The risk of name dropping (we were never good friends), Barry used to occasionally join our Friday night poker games over at the Cinnamon Tree apartment/dorm at ASU back in the day. Nobody really liked him. As you’d suspect, he was cocky as heck. He was unbelievably lucky at cards. I used to think he cheated and thus I watched him like a hawk when he dealt. He shuffled the cards at a speed that would boggle your mind …..but I couldn’t detect any funny business. We’d usually play cards for money and shots until about 9p and then head over to Minder Binders to drink…….if we had any coin left. Anyway, none of us ever wanted Bonds to tag along.

I love those kind of stories guys, thanks. I had a couple encounters with baseball greatness which I told in detail years ago on the now defunct Cardinal Nation Blog. One was having din din at a table with Earl Weaver, Cal Ripken, Sr. and others in Kansas City, and the other picking up Tom Herr from the bus station in Johnson City. Non baseball related, I drove Joe Walsh to an all night walgreens in my 1979 Pinto that was running on 3 cylinders. He was in town with Ringo Starr’s All Star Band and I was night manager of the hotel downtown. I got front row tickets and back stage passes to the show at Riverport.

Bling…Din din with Earl? Haha! I’ll bet he argued with the waiter over how his steak was cooked! “This steak ain’t medium rare! Send it back to Haller and tell him to get it right this time! He’s here for one reason…To overcook my ribeye!”

But with 1 out, the Cubs put a tally on the board with 3 consecutive singles. Oh oh….3-0
Bad Guys now on a 2 run Ortega single.

Goldy and Arenado should have big nights.

Where in blazes is everyone tonight. I know it’s a Saturday night, but we usually get a better turnout than this.

Never like to see a guy labor through 30 pitches in the 1st inning, but Adam got beat on the 2 RBI single on a really nice pitch. I believe he’ll regroup and and work long enough to give his team a good chance to win.

I just can’t get accustomed to that heavy IF shift. Didn’t need it. Adam with the K.

I hope Neil Pallante is ready to go this evening.

Cubs don’t score, but Waino at 54 heaves thru 2 frames.

Carlson looks like he’s lost some weight. Maybe he needs to feed his bat some pork chops and gravy.

On that Nike back to school commercial, when that goofy smiley faced mascot went tumbling to the turf, there’s absolutely no way in heck that I’m helping that goofball to his feet.

I didn’t see that ad, Pugs. You watching on Bally or some other broadcast?

You’re right TD …… Carlson does look a bit light ……his hitting sure has been a little on the light side too.

Yes, on Bally, TD……I think. You’re kind of fortunate not being on the receiving end of this never ending stream of Nike back to school commercials.

Yeah, all jokes aside, he looks like he’s missed some meals.
