Arizona downs Milwaukee again. 2-1 the final. Redbirds up 7.5 games now.

ParticipantI would say the Cardinals are in the driver’s seat but I’ve learned that baseball can be a funny game sometimes. I’ll wait another couple of weeks before being sure of things.
September 3, 2022 at 12:01 am #198820It isnt over yet but if I am Mo and Ollie (From now on refered tô as Mollie) I am setting up my rotation and looking hard at the potencial playoff roster. Only hiccup is you cant be sure how Strong Flaherty Will be upon his return.
Cant believe I am the first one tô come up with “Mollie”!

stlcard25ParticipantGreat to beat up on the Cubbies! Way to go, both Monty and the offense.
CC, the rotation actually lines up decently right now for October, depending on what they do with the doubleheader against Cincy later this month. Of course, it could be tweaked.

Sept 16 Flaherty
Sept 17 Quintana
Sept 17 Hudson/Woodford?
Sept 18 Monty@Pads
Sept 20 Waino
Sept 21 Mikolas
Sept 22 Flaherty@Dodgers
Sept 23 Quintana
Sept 24 Monty
Sept 25 WainoBrewers
Sept 27 Mikolas
Sept 28 FlahertyBucs
Sept 30 Quintana
Oct 1 Monty
Oct 2 Waino (home finale)@Bucs
Oct 3 Mikolas
Oct 4 Flaherty
Oct 5 QuintanaThat would leave Monty or Waino fresh for the playoff opener and you’d be able to choose between Mikolas, Flaherty or Quintana for game 3 of the opening series. Really, the Cards have 5 solid options to go with if Flaherty comes back strong so it’s a good position to be in. I’d think he would be odd man out though unless he’s really great coming back.

I felt the same when I came up with Fit Elvis when Lance Berkman (Fat Elvis) showed up in Camp trim and looking good. Not too many TCN comment participants from back then still around to remember it though.
September 3, 2022 at 8:23 am #198832As things are now, I cant imagine Monty not starting in the opening playoff series.

Your comment has gone down in Cardinal Nation annals and shall live in infamy, Bling. And Carioca’s “Mollie” is……..almost beyond description. Only a creative high functioning hitting on all cylinders mind is capable of coming up with the things that you two whip up at the drop of a hat……well done, gentlemen!

Yes…and in the “normal” order he’d be a go for Game 1. I would imagine that they may go with Waino and his experience, then Monty, then Mikolas. It may depend on the opponent. Quintana would be the #4 for later series and long relief, Flaherty to the pen. But that’s subject to change if necessary.

jj-cf-stlParticipantAdam in a Game 1 is a lock for me. Beyond that, matchup the variables best we can.
