jjcfstl…Yep, Knizner’s OBP is 110 pct. pts. north of Molina’s. Yadier looks entirely overmatched in almost every one of his PA’s. AK should be getting the majority of time behind HP. I’ve seen a couple of post-game interviews with Monte after his turns and he makes it readily apparent that he likes having Molina as his battery-mate. I suspect that’s the reason the Redbird manager has Molina in the line-up tonight.
Yadi is absolutely going to be starting every Waino game too since they’re within striking distance of the record for a battery.
With the #STLCards projected starting rotation out for the next 8 games, RHP Dakota Hudson is “temporarily” out of the mix. Oliver Marmol said Hudson could be available out of the bullpen for tomorrow’s game vs. the #Cubs. His next start could come in the Sept. 17 doubleheader.

Well Hudson only has himself to kick but he can’t feel to sorry. He got opportunity after opportunity while Woodford has had to just settle for whatever scraps he could get while pitching far better. But oh well. On a side note, don t know how much game time I’m getting this weekend. Getting grandson tonight and maybe tomorrow. Gf has a family reunion down in Kentucky tomorrow, I will be going since grandson will be going plus it’s pretty down there as well. Maybe holiday world plans Sunday. Busy busy busy.
stlcard25…Yeah, I’d say that’s been etched. I could be wrong, but my guess is that Montgomery is also a lobbyist for Molina. Just a guess though.
The Yadi situation is a bit of a dilemma for me. I feel some pity every time he comes to bat now and believe Knizner should be getting over half the games….if you want to count performance, best chance for winning, and stuff like that.
But working backwards, I believe Knizner will not get a postseason start regardless of what happens the rest of the season (barring injury or more basketball games). And admittedly, there’s a good case to be made for that considering Yadi’s veteran presence and familiarity with the pressures of playoff baseball. Given that, maybe Yadi needs all the reps he can get between now and October to re-learn how to hit a baseball.
EuroDandy…You nailed it. I cannot imagine the Redbirds would even consider entering into a post-season battle without their veteran catcher situated behind HP. At the same time, he looks completely spent in the batter’s box in practically every PA.
The green stuff does appear to be breaking up. However, it also appears as if it will soon get back together. Either way, rain will play a role in this game tonight one way or another.
I am done with the watering and jogging. Time to hit the shower and then get a cold Mt. Dew, a 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigar, and hit the couch with Whitey Herdog and tune in. If it’s raining in St. Louis we can watch the rest of the Rockies and Reds from Riverfront.

Dickerson has certainly offset his subpar first half performance with a silly hot bat the last month or so, but I probably shouldn’t be at all surprised. I mean, he is a career .282 hitter with almost 3500 Big League AB’s. Things seem to always even out in this game.
I would guess that most of the pitchers prefer Yadi, even in his diminished state. Knizner definitely has the better bat, but the glove leaves something to be desired IMO. But there’s still some time to improve a bit.
Runners at the corners and no outs. A defensive play like that has a real tendency to demoralize a team.
Back after a long week at the salt mines. Cards plate 2 1st inning tallies on an O’Neill base hit to left. Sampson will be long for naught in this one as he already extended 40 pitches in just his one inning of labor.
Cards strike early, 2-0. Donovan and Goldy both walk and later score on O’Neill’s single, a nice line drive hit. Dickerson continued the rally with a hit, but Gorman ends the inning with a K, a rough looking AB for him.
Boy our right field line foul boy looks pretty darn lame. He just totally booted an easy grounder. If he can’t field, how about we bring in someone who at least looks good down there….of the female persuasion of course.
Yeah I’ll tell you, Euro……I don’t know when I’ve seen a worse two strike batter than Gorman. No, I have not seen the stats to back that up and yes, the sampling is still a relatively short one. But everytime I’m watching him hit, when he gets that second strike on him, he almost always whiffs.
I predict Yadi leads it off with a triple.
Also known as the most exciting 2 minutes in baseball.

Edman sure seems to hit well out of that #9 hole……but there’s one problem….. he’s much better than a #9 hitter.
