TD1..”Honey, can we have spinach and boursin quiche for dinner tonight?”
Mrs. TD1..”What? How many beers have you had?”
TD1..None! That’s what CardinFrance is having. It sounds real good. Can we have that?”
Mrs. TD1..”Keep it up and you’ll be warming a can of soup for dinner.”
TD1..”Yes, dear”…
August 22, 2022 at 5:53 pm #197044Pugsley: What if Chicago royally spanked us and took all 5 games……and The Crew swept the Dodgers in LA? Wonder what the odds are on that occuring? Has to be close to a million to one.

jj-cf-stlParticipantLiberatore or Woodford?
I’d rather Woodford starts because I would expect him to give the team the best chance to win.
The catch-22 is, if he goes 5 IP on 80 pitches he may be the one sent down after the doubleheader.

stlcard25ParticipantI’m fine with Libby starting…he’s due for a good start with his last two being wobbly. Woodford can always piggyback.
Also, I’m hopeful when Flaherty comes back that Hudson goes to the pen. I think he could be a reliable reliever down the stretch.
August 22, 2022 at 6:39 pm #197053“I wonder why Helsley was placed on the RL? I was under the impression he’d be available to work tonight”.
I would like to know that as well.
August 22, 2022 at 6:49 pm #197056Helsley got 3 days Baby leave. I assume he asked for more time which would require the restricted list. What we dont knows is if his wife or Baby hás seriously complications or he Just wanted more time or he is Just following Yadi’s lead.
August 22, 2022 at 6:51 pm #197057GameCard…I’m in no way begrudging Helsley. If he decided to take an extra day, it’s certainly in order of importance and I feel he’s entitled to do so. Not so much for some other players who’ve had their names placed on the list. Only reason I was curious, was that the local media indicated Helsley would be ready to suit up today.
August 22, 2022 at 7:05 pm #197060Just showed one of those camera shots that the operator takes from an angle looking up as a starting pitcher is walking to the mound to begin his night of work. That angle sure places some emphasis on how big of a kid Monte is.
August 22, 2022 at 7:13 pm #197061Two LOL’s! One for TD with his CIF din-din skit and the other for Carter Le Grand for taking us back to that American movie classic “Dumb & Dumber”……well done gentlemen.
August 22, 2022 at 7:18 pm #197062Cards don’t score in the 1st. Anxious to see how Montgomery performs vs his new arch rivals.
August 22, 2022 at 7:25 pm #197064Albert’s got more gold around his neck out there at 1B than King Tut…
August 22, 2022 at 7:25 pm #197065Montgomery sets the cubbies down in one nice pretty little 1-2-3 chorus line…..and he only had to exert 9 pitches of energy in the process. How could N.Y. have let this guy go?
But Albert has 692 more career round trippers than King Tut, TD.
August 22, 2022 at 7:27 pm #1970669 pitches and a 1-2-3. I’ll take it.
August 22, 2022 at 7:27 pm #197067That’s now consecutive starts where Albert has whacked singles off the wall.
August 22, 2022 at 7:31 pm #197068Pujols now up to a .276 BA. He must want to get that career avg. back up to .300 before he says goodbye…
August 22, 2022 at 7:35 pm #197069I don’t know exactly why, but I may enjoy watching the Redbirds play at Wrigley more than at home.
August 22, 2022 at 7:39 pm #197070That’s now consecutive starts where Albert has whacked singles off the wall
I must say I can’t figure out why he’s not rolling over to SS For 13 or so yrs that’s all he did! (pull everything and Hit .250)
August 22, 2022 at 7:40 pm #197071I agree, TD. Especially when we’re beating them in Wrigley.
You know, with how effective Montgomery has preformed thus far, it almost has that same initial feel to it as when John Tudor came over to us mid season of ’85 from another AL East club.

ParticipantWell smiley is pitching pretty good, we may have to really earn this one.
August 22, 2022 at 7:42 pm #197073Ouch….I guess we got Tudor from Pittsburgh…..I don’t know why, but I was thinking he came over from Boston.
August 22, 2022 at 7:45 pm #197074Pretty sure JT was a winter trade, but let’s hope Monte pans out anywhere close to him.
August 22, 2022 at 7:46 pm #197075I’m pretty sure Tudor came over mid season, TD.
August 22, 2022 at 7:49 pm #197076I don’t know why, but I was thinking he came over from Boston
Could be for the same reason you’re nodding off, Pugs (hint)
August 22, 2022 at 7:53 pm #197077Pugs…I could be wrong, but I thought Tudor started ’85 with the Redbirds and went 1-7 before going on a pitching tear that included 10 shutouts. I know he finished 2nd that year in the CYA voting to a 20 year old RHP.
August 22, 2022 at 7:53 pm #197078Just looked it up and you’re correct, TD. Tudor came over in December of ’84. I must of been thinking of when we dealt Tudor mid season to LA for Pete Guerrero.
**Unfortunately, I think you may be on to something, Carter
