But Pugs, he’s the best we got. I think he’s between Matheny and McCarver level…yes?

Pugs…I’d say Gio with the 2 RH and 1 switch hitter due up for AZ.

Bottom of 9. Giovanni Gallegos looking to close this one out for St. Louis.

Varsho (ph’ing for Kelly) flies out to Nooty in right.

Rivera grounds out to DeJong at SS.

    Marte strikes out swinging…. ballgame!

    Your wondrous final score:

    St. Louis Cardinals 6
    Arizona Diamondbacks 4

No, Carter…… maybe between Steve Lake and Dave Ricketts.

The 20 game win streak is moving right along. Good work by the pen.

Gonna be a tuff 5 games vs the Cubbies. They’re playing as good as us in the last week and a half

Onward, onward ride the 26, into the teeth of the dread Cubs. How about a five-game sweep?

Wonderful to read this game recap…where’s TexasCard? Is it time to break out his famous catch phrase yet??

Somehow, the FO and the management is pulling all the right levers lately. I will take it…now let’s go win 4+ in Wrigley and really push those Brewers.

Checking the standings I find the Nats are 41 games under .500 with 41 left to play!

Real nice work by the BP and everyone’s favorite, Woodruff, gets credited with the W.

I hope it’s not too long before the Brewers begin to resign themselves to watching to see what the Phillies do as the Redbirds take off and fly away. GO REDBIRDS!

Great relief pitching today. I knew Woodford would do his usual good stuff, Stratton was great. Hopefully this was just a minor setback for quintana. Hopefully Monty can go long tomorrow.

This table setting platoon of Oil’s is getting excellent results.

Last 5 games vs a righty starter:
Noot and Gorman batting first and second, once, Noot and Donovan 4 times.

Last 5 games vs a lefty starter:
Carlson and O’Neill batting first and second five times.

    Noot, Gorman and Donovan:
    Vs righty: 14 for 30 (.467), 26 total bases (.867 slg%), 10 BB/3K

Reluctantly had to leave the TV/game when the Cards were trailing, but returned just in time to see Gallegos close it. Nice, that’s two in a row for him. Sure would help if he’d regain his good form for the stretch drive.

LeGrand…Yep, and the Dodgers are 48 games over, which means they could play .500 baseball for the remainder of the regular season and still win 105 games this year. That’s no typo.

Forgive me 25 and TexasCard, but I might have forgotten. Did he do the Buck “that’s a winner” line?

And with Carter re-emerging, I seem to remember him posting a winner-winner-chicken-dinner pic after wins. Or maybe it was somebody else.

Before today’s game, the Cardinals offense led the majors in OPS+ (BRef). By Fangraphs wRC+ they are 4th. Today is a fairly neutral one so it should remain about the same. Since the All Star break the Cards are batting .284/.366/.507 as a TEAM. That’s a 146 wRC+…roughly the career numbers of Goldy up and down the entire lineup. Simply amazing.

Nope…during last year’s long win streak he would end every Cardinal victory with a hearty “Just win, baby!”

Don’t know why, but I found Steve-O’s line hilarious!

Great memory, Euro. The “winner winner chicken dinner” lines were Carter’s patented words for a couple years at the conclusion of Redbird victories. It’s great seeing Carter. That’s all it takes to revive Carter…. a bunch of Cardinal W’s usually does the trick.

I think “Winner Winner Catfish Fiddlers Dinner” sounds better!
