Our article on potential targets is coming soon.
December 2, 2021 at 9:54 am #177791December 2, 2021 at 10:06 am #177796Wow, the first time since 1920. I guess this saves Mlb paying big league salaries to whoever got drafted. Cheapskates.

cardsfan64ParticipantAnyone know if the minor league portion of the draft will take place as scheduled? The above article only mentions the Major League portion….
December 6, 2021 at 9:57 am #177980There was conflicting info about this. On 12/2, BA said the minors phase will be held as planned, but I am working to confirm that.

cardsfan64ParticipantThanks, Brian. Please post when you confirm what they are doing!

ParticipantSo does anything happen to the guys that were exposed to the Rule 5? like Delvin Perez?
December 6, 2021 at 4:42 pm #177994DIdn’t they say only the minor league portion of Rule 5 was going to occur?

cardsfan64ParticipantHow many players can be put on the Memphis roster to protect them from the minor league portion of the draft? I count only 27 on the Memphis website roster currently.
December 7, 2021 at 8:53 am #178001The minor league phase will be Wednesday. Unless the rules change, the Memphis roster can be up to 38 players, all of whom are excepted from the minor league phase. That special 38-man roster has no direct connection to the season-ending Memphis roster.
December 7, 2021 at 9:29 am #178004
cardsfan64ParticipantThanks, Brian. Is there any way for us to know who all is on the 38 man roster? I noticed that there are 31 on the TCN roster Matrix.
December 7, 2021 at 12:19 pm #178022The answer is “probably not”. Some years I can get it and some, I cannot. I do have a subscriber article on the home page which shows all of the Cardinals Rule 5 eligible players and on which roster I guess they would be placed.

Looks like the Cards lost one and gained four. A couple of other familiar names in there for the prospect followers on here.
December 8, 2021 at 3:38 pm #178071I thought rule 5 was cancelled?
December 8, 2021 at 3:54 pm #178073Major League portion was delayed. Minor League draft went today.
December 8, 2021 at 4:54 pm #178080The #stlcards added four players and lost one in the Minor League phase of Wednesday's Rule 5 Draft. The Cardinal Nation has all the details in this FREE article! https://t.co/RJdVqes2eZ

December 8, 2021 at 10:05 pm #178101Thanks for article, Brian. Good pickups, with 2 young pitchers adding depth.
December 9, 2021 at 8:05 am #178111Thanks to Blake Newberry.
March 10, 2022 at 2:59 pm #180547To be clear, this is referring to the Major League Phase which was not held in December due to the lockout. The Minor League Phase occurred on schedule.
It may have been reported elsewhere already, but my understanding is the Rule 5 draft has been canceled for this year.

March 11, 2022 at 9:27 am #180589I think the Memphis Redbirds benefit from the Rule 5 Draft being cancelled because I think we would have lost Luken Baker otherwise.
March 11, 2022 at 11:13 am #180594Tia Luken Baker who hit .248 at AA? Really?
March 11, 2022 at 11:24 am #180595Baker has Alonso’s potential bat with Junior Sample’s physique. It depends on which factor you focus upon.

Yes
March 12, 2022 at 7:51 am #180631Can’t imagine why CC cites batting average alone as a player’s measure, unless his tongue is in cheek. I am going to assume that…
