Not that the past dictates the present, but the thread in this tweet includes some interesting research related to how World Series have finished in the past.
And of those 16 times where the World Series was tied, 2-2, the series was extended to the full seven games 12 times.
Yep.
So, that means the team that lost Game 5 went 12-4 in Game 6. So much for any thoughts of "momentum" playing a role in a potential clincher, eh?

Participant25 – Let’s move on, okay?
October 26, 2020 at 11:41 am #145699Personally I prefer to discuss current and future Cardinals instead of former Cardinals.
If the world series makes it to game 7 a Buehler vs Morton matchup could be a classic.
October 26, 2020 at 4:35 pm #145712With all starters available out of the bullpens…

stlcard25ParticipantArozarena gives the Rays a lead with an opposite field HR. 1-0 Rays.
October 27, 2020 at 7:15 pm #145834Arozarena strikes again. 10 postseason homers now. Total bases who knows, need a calculator for that at this point. Wow, just wow.
October 27, 2020 at 7:23 pm #145835A comment Smoltz made stuck with me. “The Rays hitters are stepping up to the box ready to hit. They are swinging at first pitches.” They also noted how hitters are hammering even outside pitches. Does anyone ever throw inside to back hitters off anymore?

Participant1-0 Rays after the 1st half inning.
October 27, 2020 at 7:33 pm #145837Snell looks really good. Fans the side in the home first.

stlcard25ParticipantHard to do what Snell just did…K Betts, Seager and Turner back to back to back.
October 27, 2020 at 8:15 pm #145839Brian, with all the body armor and willingness to get hit by a pitch, it’s hard to back hitters off the plate. Also, pitchers get thrown out of games so easily when they hit batters that they can’t throw inside like they use to.
I think they need to outlaw any padding or body guards when batting.

ParticipantTop of the 5th. Rays still up 1-0.
October 27, 2020 at 8:48 pm #145842bccran
ParticipantRays have a man on 1st. Two outs.
October 27, 2020 at 9:24 pm #145845Wow. Cash pulls Snell after a Dodgers single with one out in the sixth. This could backfire.
October 27, 2020 at 9:32 pm #145846That was as fast as it was predictable. Double, wild pitch run scores, RBI single and the Rays are down 2-1.
October 27, 2020 at 9:33 pm #145847What a turd-for-brains move by Cash. Who couldn’t see that had potential fail written all over it? Early Christmas present for the Dodgers.
October 27, 2020 at 9:33 pm #145848
stlcard25ParticipantThat Dodgers lineup is so difficult to keep down for long.
October 27, 2020 at 9:41 pm #145849This was who Cash brought in to relieve Snell. Excellent in the regular season and terrible in October. The streak was six going into tonight…
Nick Anderson has allowed at least 1 run in 7 straight postseason games, the longest streak by a reliever in MLB history.

jj-cf-stlParticipantCan the Rays pick up their manager? Getting late…..

October 27, 2020 at 10:35 pm #145852Again the Dodgers are not going with Jansen. Probably the smart move.
October 27, 2020 at 10:38 pm #145853The 1988 jinx is broken.
October 27, 2020 at 10:51 pm #145854Justin Turner came out of the game because of a positive test for COVID-19, per Fox.

October 27, 2020 at 10:54 pm #145855There’s only like three people in the stands and yet when Manfred went to speak to present the trophy, he was booed so loudly he stopped talking.
Rob Manfred handing out a piece of metal getting booed mercilessly by the 11k people he let in the building is such great theater.

October 27, 2020 at 11:06 pm #145856Corey Seager is the MVP of both the World Series and earlier, the NLCS.
For those who go by the numbers, Seager outslashed Randy – .400/.556/.700/1.256.
