What a start to Game 6. Verlander gives up yet another 1st inning run, but Springer and Bregman key a 2-run response in the bottom of the inning.
Soto crushed a ball to right to give the Nats a 3-2 lead in the fifth. There is also an odd game within the game of guys carrying their bat to first base on home runs.
Soto couldn’t resist and copied Bregman’s antics. If these “loud” players are going to go full NBA/NFL (sports I quit watching years ago), my interest will fade. Gotta have the “look at me” drama. I guess it’s too boring now, but I always liked Barry Sanders “I’ve done it before” approach.
Compliments of Skippy and all of the fine folk situated over at the esteemed Elias Sports Bureau, we all now know that a 7 game series has never seen the road team walk off the field in victory in every game. But……has it ever even occured in the first 6 games of a series? Maybe it’s time to put Hector in flight. Any other Carrier Pigeon ( Homing Pigeon ) aficionados out there? It’s just over 900 miles(by car) from my home to 5th Avenue in New York. But as the crow (Pigeon) flys, it’s only a shade over 750 miles. Hector makes it there in about a day and a half this time of year and even shorter during the summer, when the extended daylight results in more fly time. Hector will have our answer back to us by the weekend.
Big play as Turner is called out on interference running to first on a bad throw into the runner. Social media disagreed violently, but the problem as I see it is in the rule itself.

Rendon followed the controversy with a two-out, two-run homer to extend the Nats’ lead to three. Between innings, his manager was tossed.
Great outing by Strasbourg. He has been terrific this post season. Hope the bull pen can hold the Astros to force a game seven.
Umpires not doing well in this one. Rendon is a class act. If Washington can hold on and throw a healthy Scherzer tomorrow, we may see the first all-road-warrior series ever.

Is there event in baseball better than a Game 7? There was……back in 1919-21 when you had the potential for a Game 9. Well, I hope the Red Sox are enjoying their final hours as the current world champion, as they are about to hand that coveted distinction over to the………?????????…….usually one can get a good and valid feeling on who has the upper hand of which team is poised to win a Game 7. And that predicted team is ALWAYS the home team. But not this year. With all 6 games in this 2019 World Series being won by the road team, how could you not go with Washington winning tonight’s big game? 6-6 is not just a momentary trend. It cannot be chalked up to merely being a fluke. Try spending an hour or two flipping a coin to see how many times either all heads or all tails will come up 6 consecutive times. The fact of the matter is that something very very strange occurs when these two teams meet for the right to become world champions. And that fact is that the road team has an extremely enhanced chance for victory. The road team has absolutely creamed the home team in this series by an astounding 43-12 margin. I think the Washington Nationals can safely be crowned 2019 world champions, hours before the game’s first pitch. Congrats to the Nats!!
Nice to have a game 7…and with such good pitching and hitting, let’s hope for a classic!! I’ll agree with Pugs and say the Nats win it 3-2.
Astros will break the home team losing streak but it won’t be until the late innings and Urquidy will turn out to be the star in relief.
I was kind of surprised last night to see the brouhaha over the running the baseline call. During the season we have seen more than one runner called out for interference but, somehow, when it happens to the Nats it becomes a major deal. Then the Joe Buck show started with him applying his expert analysis of what should be yet he knew full well the call was NOT reviewable and I believe that is what New York finally told the ump – interference is umps judgement and not reviewable. But the biggest disappointment was Martinez giving his best imitation of Earl Weaver only he was not imitating – he meant it. I cannot picture Hinch doing the same and I can now understand why Martinez had heart problems and had to stay back when the Nats met the Cards at the end of the season. He resembled a heart attack in the making last night. All in all it worked out well for the Nats so I guess they dropped their protest but Turner did run the entire way to 1B on the grass and only hit dirt when the grass ended. Interference? Maybe or maybe not but, as it is common today, he did not run in the prescribed lane. That is probably one rule that should be reviewed and a decision made where the running lane is legally. I thought Turner himself looked to be getting pretty mouthy toward the umpires but the blond headed Hispanic 2B kept him down to only simmer level.
While I have said previously said I favor the Astros it really doesn’t make a hill of beans to me who wins as I have no dog in this hunt.
Has there ever been a World Series when the visitor won all 7 games? I can’t think of one off the top of my head.
Overall it’s been a fun series to watch as a non-partisan. Both teams have a few players I really like, and both have one or two I don’t like. I’m feeling like the Astros will finally tally one for the home team.
Either way, hoping for a competitive game into the late innings. If so, it’ll be really interesting to see which pitchers are used after the starters are gone. Has there ever been a long extra-inning (say 14 or 15) Game 7? I don’t think so. It would seem incredible, but I wouldn’t put it past these teams tonight.
7? These teams set a post season record last night with the 6th road team victory in a given series. Once again I would like to congratulate the Washington Nationals on winning the 2019 World Series. Houston literally has no chance of winning tonight’s game……considering the unique circumstances. You can throw that old adage “It’s not over until it’s over” smack dab right out the window for tonight’s game. I’m so confident in Washington tonight that I’m going to wager a wad of cash on the Nats that would not only choke one horse, but rather an entire stable of them.
Speaking of betting a lot on the Nats… I saw this earlier today. This bettor decided to bail out and take a sure profit before Game 7.
