Really like Jarvis from Duke. He was turning in a special Junior season at Duke and was taking big step forward in his development. If the season didn’t get stopped at the rate he was going I think he could have gone top 10. Being 22 is small red flag.
    MLB.com
After working with an 88-93 mph fastball at the beginning of 2019 and dipping to 86-91 by season’s end, Jarvis added 20 pounds to his 6-foot-2 frame and operated at 92-96 with effective downhill plane last fall and this spring. His breaking ball used to be average at best, and now he flashes a plus curveball in the upper 70s that he can manipulate into a distinct and equally effective slider in the mid-80s. His fading changeup remains his best secondary offering, grading as well above average at its best.
Jarvis has improved his control along with his stuff, posting a 40-2 K-BB ratio in 27 innings while showing the ability to move his pitches around the strike zone. He repeats his delivery well.

    My Draft Board
    Tyler Soderstrom
    Pete Crow-Armstrong
    Bryce Jarvis
    Justin Foscue
    Nick Bistro
    Carmen Mlodzinski
    Jared Kelley
    Jordan Westburg

Cole Wilcox cape cod league stats
    4 innings 1 hit 0 ER 2 BB 6 Ks
    4 innings 6 hit 6 ER 4 BB 4 Ks
Hard to get good read on him based on that.

It feels like this will be a cape cod league player pick.

    David Martin
Stats don’t really excite me on McMahon. Based on Keith law draft I’d rather get Jarvis, Kelley, or Wilcox.
    This comment was interesting
The Cards were the one team I had heard linked to high schooler Dylan Crews, who removed himself from the draft this week, but beyond that it’s been more college pitchers and a few position players (e.g., Jordan Westburg).

Westburg had a big 2019 Cape Cod season so it would be a typical cardinals pick.

Ed Howard feels like Delvin Perez/Pete Kozma.

Cardinals in 2019 6 out of 8 first picks they went, pitcher. So I’d like to see them take a bat, but it feels like it’ll be a pitcher. I could see someone dropping to them as Gorman did. I feel like they need to upgrade the offense in the farm system. Cardinals love Cape Cod league so look at Cavalli, Wilcox, Mlodzinski. In 2018 Cardinals took 15 players with Cape Cod experience. Zack Thompson, Tony Locey, Andre Pallante in 2019.

My list of hope they fall to Cardinals
    Tyler Soderstrom
    Pete Crow Armstrong
    Jared Kelley
    Garrett Mitchell

More information on Soderstrom from mlb.com. He’s been the backup catcher on his high school team, mostly because the starter is a really good defender. Soderstrom’s hands work and he has a very strong arm, but he is raw in terms of blocking and game management.
MLB.com – April: “Soderstrom is an athletic, left-handed hitting catcher whose bat is ahead of his defense. At the plate, he’s really polished with a solid overall approach and makes the kind of loud contact that makes people sit up and take notice when he’s taking batting practice.”
Prospects Live – Mar. 24th: ” A bat first prospect, Soderstrom stands out for his smooth left-handed swing and feel for good contact. Soderstrom projects for average power, but has the tools to be a plus hitter, arguably the top pure hit tool in the entire prep class.”

So I’d be open to it the pick is about his bat and not about him being the replacement for Yadi since we have Herrera and Knizner to battle for that spot.

Before I renew my subscription to baseball America. Does anyone have it to where they can post the updated mock draft they did today and the rankings? In regards to Tyler Soderstrom only thing I can think of is they draft him and if his bat is legit they just move him to outfield. But it makes zero sense as David Martin said. May have been here where it was said bad history of drafting a catcher in the 1st round.

    MLB.com wrote this in 2019
He barrels the ball repeatedly and produces high exit velocities as a left-handed hitter, and while he needs work as a catcher, he’s athletic enough to play third base or an outfield corner if he has to change positions.

When I was with Astros groundscrew I remember watching Strom do bullpens and just talking with him and thinking Cardinals lost a good one.
