Maybe that will finally resonate with our fans

The selfie stick crowd is not likely to be invested in the narrative. Losing baseball, yawn.

Word has it that Saggese is one of the young players that they want to give a lot of playing time to. Do they play him at 2B, or move him to 3B if Arenado is traded?

Cranny there are fundamental things about baseball that used to be known but don’t seem to be anymore. One of those is that an infielder coming up will always be started out on the left side if he has the arm for it. Saggese has always been primarily a right side guy. From that we can deduce that he does not have a left side arm. The same as Donovan does not have a left side arm. It is an inconvenient truth for those fixated on the offensive stats and determined to shoehorn all the bats they like into the lineup.

They already know what they have with Donovan. so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them put Saggese at 2B and see what happens. The outfield is raggedy so Donovan might be needed out there. They will probably avoid having him assigned as a starter anywhere if they can help it. He is most valuable as IF/OF depth who can take on a regular everyday role if called upon.

Unfortunately some in the hardcore crowd doesn’t seem to be grasping the reality of the situation either.

I think if you trade Arenado, Gorman becomes the 3B, Donovan become the 2B.

I would bring back PDJ as the guy who can back up 2B, SS & 3B.

Would the Cardinals be a better team with Donovan starting and Saggese as a utility player or vice versa? I believe the former.

The corner outfielders are Nootbaar and Walker. If they are healthy, there wouldn’t be much playing time out there for Donovan.

This guy could be in the running for a utility spot. He can play CF and other spots.

Have you seen his career OPS in MLB?

Yes I have. I didn’t say he would definitely be on the roster. I said he could he be in the running. Have you heard the news that a rebuild (reset) is on?

6 pts less than Victor Scott, but he can also play ss, which Scott cannot.

This is what you do if you are in a multi-year tank job, not a “reset.”

He is only signed to a minor league contract. He will have to earn a spot in spring training.

I think a multi year tank job would be trading Donovan, Noot, Burly, Gorman, Walker, Winn, and Herrera. A complete teardown, which the Cardinals are not doing.

I wrote that I see Berrero as a replacement for 2024 Memphis SS Arquimedes Gamboa, who was the only minor league free agent the Cardinals lost.

You generally don’t get rid of your cost-controlled talent until they become expensive.

You do get rid of all your big-money contracts, which the Cardinals evidently tried to do, but were blocked by their propensity to hand out NTC’s.

But if you believe the same organization that had everyone believing they were leaders in player development and analytics when they in fact had gutted those two departments can do a total reset in one year, I have some ocean front property in Montana to sell you.

At this juncture, if these folks told me water was wet I’d have to take it under advisement and hand it off to my staff of experts.

What has went wrong now is contreras and apparently gray have decided to use their no trade clause. I could understand objecting to a trade based on the team that is trying to get you but to opt out specifically from any trades is rediculous. Any player worth their salt would be trying to get to a team that has some chance at making the playoffs. While i never wanted contreras anyway, this def makes me regret that we got gray.

Lacking any concrete evidence of any kind, all this discussion is just an exercise in intellectual flatulence. Wake me up when something real happens.

Gray must like his decision to sign here. In fact the only flaw I see in his signing, is the knee jerk owner changed his mind about competing. Lets question Grays competitiveness and not the owners? Bassakwards Willie.

Unless a player’s home and family are in St. Louis, then it is just a city to fly in and out of for work like all the others. Lay some money on the table and they will be happy to fly in and out of somewhere else.

Assuming every player is the same is a very bad assumption.

In the minors, Saggese has over 100 innings at 3B and over 100 innings at SS. Assuming he may not have a left side of the infield arm may not be totally accurate.

Saggese is really bad at 3B.

Saggese is really bad at 3B.

His fielding % in the minors is indeed very poor at 3B.

    2B:
    Donovan
    Gorman
    Saggese
    JJ

Better pick a center fielder outta there!
