I’m saying there is less than a 10% chance Fowler is on the Cardinals roster by Spring Training 2019. It is probably 50-50 if he stays the rest of this season.

I’m guessing that there’s a less than 10% chance that he’ll be on the team at the end of this month.

You’re right. At the present time it’s fractured. But for a number of reasons DF will be given ample chances to fail even more or turn it around.

Where are all the people here that are hell bent on wanting the best team out on the field? If Fowler wants playing time to work out of his two season slump, he’s not the best we have. Suppose he doesn’t care anymore? (which seems to be the case). He just spiels rhetoric that he suggests he is going to become the guy we traded for. He says he is trying… Mr last in first out.

Even his body language last night, when he struck out pinch-hitting, was telling.

The guys in the FO have to man up, get him out of STL and let’s move on already. It has to be a distraction to everyone in the dugout.

gsc…. do you think that the Cubbies will pick him up and then he takes them to the WS? I wouldn’t worry one iota about seeing that happening. And even if it did, that would prove that the FO is just a bunch of saps.

Are we supposed to let the tail wagging the dog? So far, the FO is allowing that to happen.

It looks like Dexter is becoming what Johnnie Peralta was — a former exceptional talent who lost the desire to play. Agree his body language (at the plate and in the field) is telling, as was Johnnie’s at the end. Time to move on, but the FO will be reluctant to do so this year.

There’s no place for reluctance from the FO. Fowler is an albatross and Mozeliak just has to grow a p___ and run him out of town. I’m doing my part as a concerned lifelong Cards fan.

Yes, I think the Cubs would sign him. No risk on their part if we are paying him. If he plays well they could rub it in our face and I’m sure they would love that.

If the Angels could trade the shell of Josh Hamilton a couple of years ago surely we can find a taker for Fowler if we are willing to pay 75% of the money owed.

I’m not sure that “growing up” is what’s needed on Mo’s part. It’s really a cost-benefit analysis on whether it’s greater value to tie up a roster spot with a high salary unproductive player, or opt for a younger, unproven player, or a mid season trade, neither of which usually pan out well half way through a season. I’m always cautious about trades with clubs who are trying to unload players because it’s usually not about salary, but more about the potential for future production.

Cards need to do better at vetting players before they sign them — Fowler, Cecil, Gregerson are good examples, and to some extent Ozuna. Cards’ franchise value is now at 1.8 billion, according to baseball-stats, so they do have the resources to to make better decisions and avoid another Fowler.

My guess is he remains on the roster through Sep. At least we know what we’ve got with him, even if he is a sub-.200 hitter.

Sorry for the belated thank you, Uconn. Support is always appreciated. Over the years, I’ve probably known 10-12 people within the Cardinals organization. Just the way St. Louis is. Fanhome! Haven’t thought about that for years. Wasn’t there another one back then called Dickie Thon? Brings back memories of posters like BleacherBum and BRuby. Does it make one feel a little long in the tooth? Sure does. Along with the creaky back and sore knees. Hope all is well with you and your family.
    All the best,

UConn – just thought of another fellow poster back in the Fanhome days – Gagliano. Great guy and very knowledgeable. One year at Winter Warm Up I was able to get Phil Gagliano’s autograph on a ball and mailed it to poster Gagliano up on the East Coast.
    Fun stuff.

Gags is sorely missed. He’s alive and well but so busy with work that posting on the message board just doesn’t happen.

Thanks, Brian. I don’t do Facebook, so maybe UConn will say hi to Gags for me.

From today’s St. Louis Post-Dispatched from Rick Hummel’s Noteboook

Dexter Fowler – ‘At the end of the day, its over. And I’m moving on.’

Also, reported: Fowler was among the Cardinals who came our for early hitting Tuesday after Monday’s
    day off.

Also, from MM: ‘It’s a different space from where he’s been in the past, so its a great challenge
but he has come out with a good attitude.’

Has Dexter Fowler finally arrived in ‘da Lou? Is he going to be there for us? Exciting. Stay tuned.

People are saying that Fowler will not be with the Cardinals in 2019. Who would take his contract?

Depends on how he finishes the season and how much of the contract the Cards would be willing to eat.

I just heard a Fowler for Tulowitzki trade. Two unfortunate large contracts for little return. What have we got to lose? Fowler is persona non grata in STL and the Cards have been rumored to have been looking at Tulo forever.
