I could also see Bill using the bank of LA to selloff Edman. He’s capable of finding a way to skim from the budget.

The Dodgers need Helsley and want Edman, and I’ll bet you there’s a haul to be had with LA covering the tab. Target their young controllable starting pitching. Stone, Miller, Ryan, Knack, etc.

As long as we are making stuff up- If they want Walker that bad, Walker and Edman for Fedde and Robert. Cardinals maybe add another prospect.

Bill won’t take on those $ KCB. We had to DFA GG just to possibly scrounge up 2mil, remember? LOL

He’d just find a way to pocket it.

    There’d be another outrageous excuse…
“Oh, that was for last season on Arenado”. The classics just keep pouring out. Now GG has to fall on his sword to save the deadline… 😉

GameCard, if they trade Edman, Busch Stadium won’t burn down. I worked on it, don’t even try.
And plz don’t burn this site down!

How would the DH slot in the Dodgers batting order apply to Edman?

It would apply because as of this date Edman has not been able to play in the field and the Dodgers have a guy named Ohtani who is there DH.

Edman’s primary value is when he’s either equipped with a mitt or situated somewhere on the basepaths. If he indeed can’t play anywhere other than in the batter’s box, this entire conversation never exists.

Has anybody checked Fedde’s career numbers? Not very good. What is the big deal about him???

I would definitely pass on Fedde myself.

For whatever reason he has been a different pitcher this year after spending a year in Korea. Why? I don’t know. Maybe it was the cabbage kimchi. Regardless he has been very productive this season for the worst team in baseball and is relatively cheap.

Edman has more value for the Cards than any of the other 29 teams. Don’t ever trade Edman.

What has he done for the Cardinals lately?

I said last year when they were selling the Dodgers made sense. Looks like they are going to do it this year and get Fedde for him. We’ll see what all is included.

If its Edman for Fedde I’m perfectly OK with it. But I have a feeling the Cardinals are including more to Chicago with whatever the Dodgers are sending to Chicago too. We’ll see.

MLB Traderumors is reporting that a deal trading Edman to the Dodgers, Vargas from the Dodgers to the White Sox and Fedde to the Cardinals is done.

They are saying the source is Nightengale from USA Today.

Looks like its a done deal. Edman to Dodgers, Fedde to STL, Miguel Vargas to CHWS. Says other prospects from both teams going to Chicago, but no word yet on who.

This is actually pretty good deal for the Cardinals. Fedde upgrades our rotation for this year and next.

Cardinals can spend the offseason trying to trade Matz.

Edman didn’t contribute to the Cardinals this year, Siani has taken over CF, Winn has taken over SS and they drafted their super-utility player of the future in Wetherholt.

Cardinals still need some offensive upgrades if they truly want to try to compete this year.

I like this deal a lot with it only being Edman we are giving up. We get a good middle of the rotation SP for both this year and next. While I really like edman’s game, he had become expendable. I’m surprised all it took from our end was Edman given his injury woes this year.

Now they are saying we get Tommy Pham back, which makes this deal even better.

I really like this deal, although I am sorry to see GameCard now a Dodger fan. Although Tommy might have returned to be our second baseman, we have adequate players who can do the job he did. Tommy was real good for us and always played great at where ever we needed him. But Donovan is pretty much a duplicate of Edman.

Fedde seems to have figured out some things overseas as has been very good. Plus he will be around some. Good move by the front office, at least on paper. You never know how deals will play out, but I give this one a thumbs up. The way I see it, Fedde essentially takes Gallegos’ roster spot, a huge upgrade, while Tommy has not been available all year.

Congratulations @gscottar for correctly identifying two Cardinals trade targets!
