I think Leahy will give up a lead off homer here to Devers, then set the next three down in order.

Yeah, Albert, the last handful of games have been fun, but nothing really good happens until you taste the .500 mark.
What a fun game to watch with a tumbler of Kentucky’s finest double-oaked bourbon. Mellowed my mood to where I actually felt sorry for Refsnyder as he chased his missed ball to the wall, but good for us! Now need to keep the momentum up for CHC and CIN. Cardinals put their 2 – 11 record in series finals on the line tomorrow, but they swept the Red Sox last year so they will be going for 6 straight against them.

MLB has to adjust their silly methods/reasonings for awarding wins to pitchers. I love JoJo, but he pitches the 8th last night and surrenders 3 hits and the Cardinal lead and yet ends up getting the “W”. Why not give it to Kitty whom pitched a purrrfect 7th, striking out 3?
A long winning streak is needed to accelerate the course correction.
The offense just had to get better and the pitching had to come back down a little. We’ll see what all that looks like by the end of May.
Pugs, I agree on the “wins”. When starting pitchers used to go 7, 8, or 9 innings most games then it was sort of a relevant stat – especially in the National League where pitchers were part of the offense. But even back then, wins weren’t a perfect measure. Now the stat is mostly useless. With relievers though, it has always had almost no meaning.
They don’t award wins to position players so why the fascination of awarding them pitchers? Seems stupid and flawed to single out one pitcher when its a team win or loss.
That was quite the scam job by Wainwright last season. Nah, my arm ain’t dead like the manager says, it’s my mechanics. I guess his mechanics got worse then.

To those who say “the season was lost anyway”, I reply with “BS”.
During that two-month-plus stretch, the team still went 30-35. If somehow, the team could have won those 10 games instead, which is the best possible, but unrealistic example, they would have been 40-25 and back in the race.
Wainwright had a great career, but his final season tarnished his reputation. That the team allowed it to continue reinforces the motive of money over competitiveness. They milked it the year before with the Albert/Yadi farewell tour but at least one of the two of them was productive.
The instant Wainwright finally received win #200, the charade ended with his 7.40 season ERA reinforcing that he hung on a year too long, hurting his team to achieve a personal milestone. No one looked good in this.
P.S. Nostalgia is great when you are winning.
I can’t wait for fans to want Yadi as the manager with Waino as the pitching coach and Albert as the hitting coach. Who cares if they are qualified or not? They make people feel good.
