Boy, it got him good. That area behind HP can be a veritable no man’s land.
May 7, 2024 at 7:53 pm #251174Nah – May as well let Pages play. Why bother at this point worrying about it?
Let Herrera catch 4-5 days a week and Pages 1.
May 7, 2024 at 7:55 pm #251175
jj-cf-stlParticipantYep, I didn’t know if pages is a young guy that needs to be playing as much as possible.
May 7, 2024 at 8:00 pm #251176
jj-cf-stlParticipantTied
May 7, 2024 at 8:01 pm #251177It’s tied, but it feels like the Mets just took a 3 run lead.
May 7, 2024 at 8:03 pm #251178Think Austin Romine.
May 7, 2024 at 8:04 pm #251179
jj-cf-stlParticipantthird time thru (them)
May 7, 2024 at 8:05 pm #251180
jj-cf-stlParticipantGood example
May 7, 2024 at 8:06 pm #251181
jj-cf-stlParticipantMiles was good for roughly 16 batters.
May 7, 2024 at 8:09 pm #251182Man, Mikolas lost it in a hurry. Wonder if he will be the next to go on the IL with some sort of ailment?
May 7, 2024 at 8:09 pm #251183I wonder what Miles is going to look like a year from now.
May 7, 2024 at 8:13 pm #251184You won’t have to wonder – You will get to see it in living color.
Team has to be shocked over losing Willson but – at the same time – it sure is beginning to look like they are going to mail it in for the rest of the season.
May 7, 2024 at 8:13 pm #251185Wow I’m glad I swapped it over to the Cubs game to watch Imanaga pitch instead of Mikolas. Mikolas has been a very frustrating pitcher to watch since his pitches are just so hittable. It doesn’t matter if you avoid walks if your pitches are basically batting practice.
May 7, 2024 at 8:15 pm #251186Man, Mikolas lost it in a hurry. Wonder if he will be the next to go on the IL with some sort of ailment?
He hasn’t looked hurt to me when watching him, but maybe they will come up with a phantom injury. Mikolas just hasn’t kept up with the hitters the last couple of years.
May 7, 2024 at 8:16 pm #251187Well that’s probably the season for Contreras. I’m lost for words on seeing that. That was brutal and I’m not sure how he put himself in that situation to begin with.
Can anyone clarify the 5 Options per year limit? Currently Pages has been optioned 3x already and he’s most likely to get recalled with Contreras going down. I’m assuming the option during ST counts but I’m not sure on the rules and can’t seem to find a SparkNotes on the subject.
May 7, 2024 at 8:16 pm #251188Yeah, its reminding me of Wainwright last year.
May 7, 2024 at 8:18 pm #251189The Mets just got a crooked-er number than the Cards did.
And who said the Cards can’t catch a break this year?
May 7, 2024 at 8:21 pm #251190
jj-cf-stlParticipantThey’ll prop his contract up as SP3. It would be easier to PR Miles if they sign another Sonny Gray type as SP2. I’d wait him (Miles) out, for a SP2. Miles trend is not reversing, to date.
May 7, 2024 at 8:24 pm #251191
jj-cf-stlParticipantInjury recalls may play into those transactions BHC. Probably some 20day fine print in there.
May 7, 2024 at 8:25 pm #251192Wooster2
ParticipantWas watching a game here in Fla last night and they were talking about catchers interference being really up this year. (Ie) Contreras? Seems the rule changes last year has the catchers setting up closer to the strike zone. Trying to shorten the time the ump and batter have to see the pitch. Not really sure bout how all that works but losing Contreras bat is really gonna hurt. Hope some other guys start hitting soon. Don’t need another year like the last one.
May 7, 2024 at 8:30 pm #251193
jj-cf-stlParticipantCot’s transaction glossary would be a legit place to start digging around.
May 7, 2024 at 8:30 pm #251194Well based on this angle, Martinez’s back foot appears to be completely outside of the box. Its not a great angle and I’m not 100% certain but it does appear so…
This is just too close. Batters are standing as far back as possible to counter velocity. Catchers are getting as close as possible to frame pitches.
Not sure if it needs to be regulated somehow but this sucks to see. https://t.co/zdL6TkUkaJ pic.twitter.com/oHLPZWuxTZ

May 7, 2024 at 8:33 pm #251196With that said about Martinez, fire every single person in the Cardinals’ organization. Holy crap I’m lost for words:
In an attempt to help catcher Willson Contreras get more low strikes, the #STLCards have him moved up closer to the plate. However, JD Martinez's bat hit Contreras on the left forearm during his swing.
Contreras is out of the game. He was in obvious pain, yelling out right away. pic.twitter.com/0XCgzBQG0D

May 7, 2024 at 8:33 pm #251197May 7, 2024 at 8:36 pm #251198I don’t know about Leahy. Didn’t he bean a guy in the head at Wrigley last year? He just about did it again a few minutes ago. LaRussa would have already yanked him off the mound by the scruff of his neck. He didn’t like pitching above the shoulders.
