I saw the lineup and thought “get away day”, he emptied the bench regardless of the handedness splits. Nope.

The confusing part was me trying to decide who the bench players are now! “Two players from flatlining” is spot on.

Great, we now have a .175 hitter batting 2nd in the lineup. That’s certainly good news. Considering he’s a career .240 hitter.

And yes, I know how valuable he is. I know all about all of those anal-ytics and numbers and stuff that tells the complete picture and how we should sign him to a 10 year/$500,000,000 contract.

23 homers lol! I bet Garcia, O’Neill and Arozarena have almost that many themselves! Just pitiful!

I figured Gorman would be back in with a righty going for the Mets. I like Gorman and he has a ton of upside, but I would put Fermin out there for awhile to see what he can do. He was one of the few sparks in the lineup last night.

Think I would have gone this way tonight:

    Fermin, 2b
    Donovan, lf
    Contreras, c
    Arenado, 3b
    Gorman, dh
    Goldschmidt, 1b
    Nootbaar, rf
    Crawford/Winn, ss
    Siani, cf

Almost – they combine for 22 homers. Arozarena is really scuffling though; only a 56 OPS+ with 5 homers. Garcia has 8 and O’Neill 9 with solid OPS+ numbers of 137 and 189.

O’Neill, Garcia and Ozuna have a total of 27 HR’s, Steve. In any case, this team simply can’t push runs across HP. With the exception of the White Sox the Cardinals have scored less runs than anyone in the game and we can’t even win a series against them. At home!

You would think it can’t get any worse but I beg to differ! With our current front office in charge we will trade Helsley, Goldy and Arenado at the dead line, which is not a bad idea, but MO will get no one who ever plays for us in return, so the future looks dark!

Yeah, Fermin had 2 hits and scored a run last night. Maybe that’s why he’s not in there.

This is the kind of weather, beautiful, just made for baseball. In better times there would be a pretty good walk up gate. I think I will sit out back with KMOX on the radio this evening and let my imagination take me there. Like when I was a kid.

I don’t blame you, Bling. It’s fun to watch the game on the radio…

We’ll beat their brains in tonight. See those 23 team home runs we have? Puff! Like magic, that “23” will be a “27”…..and if the wind is blowing just right towards right-center, maybe even a “28” by night’s end.

    Poor Fermin

    Goldy hitting 3rd.

This team is beginning to suck again.

Baseball just isn’t fun, When your teams hittin .221.

Pugs quite the optimist. With Pugs and Rat on board it makes me think of din-din, which for us is ravioli, garlic bread and a homemade stuffed tomato the lovely Lady Bike put together. Being Italian fare I am indulging in a glass of red wine with it.

.221 may be a reach, booyah. Best I can tell, they’re hitting .215 as a team. Uh oh…That Donovan tater will help!

Pugs forecast plenty of taters tonight. He may be right. I rolled the trash and recycling containers out to the curb about an hour ago and I noticed it felt like the type of evening in which the baseball may carry pretty well.

Goldy needed a fly ball with the runner on 3rd and 1 out. Couldn’t do it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that degree of contact on a C’s interference.

    left arm fracture.

Pages pinch hit for and pulled from his game. I guess he’s on his way.

    Well that’s that.

Without Contreras I don’t see this team having a winning record.

At best he’s out 2 1/2 months with the healing and the rehab.

I’m not saying they are 71-91 again but I see very little chance for even a .500 record.

With Herrera catching, do we need a mlb backfill? I don’t know the preference for Pages.
