So, at what point to the Cardinals release Gallegos from his $5.5 million contract?

Maybe he will come down with back tightness so Mo can save face.

As long as you don’t film him on the golf course.

Winn leads off the Redbird 8th with an infield single down the 3rd baseline in a 5-1 ChiSox ballgame. Then Fermin is rung up on strikes….couldn’t quite check his swing on a Leasure offering that may have been called a strike anyway. Then Nooty flies out to Grossman in left over near the long line of chalk jetting out from 3rd base. Donovan flies out to center.

For me it appears that the only real drama left unanswered on the afternoon is if Rat is going to break out his second 7×50 Palma De La El Presidente Real cigar on the afternoon to enjoy while watching the Reds-Orioles game?

We’re got our big bats coming up in the bottom of the ninth.

Hope so JJ! Our good ole’ pal John Brebbia takes the hill in a quest to close out his former teammates here in the bottom of the 9th…..though he cannot be credited with an official Save. Let’s saddle a big “L” on him shall we!

34 games into the season, the Cardinals are responsible for 25% of the White Sox wins.

I thought we would take 2-3 in this series, but never in my wildest dreams…or make that wildest nightmares….did I think the ChiSox would take 2-3. I think this game tips me over the edge as far as still being bullish about our Birds. We kinda aren’t very good to put it nicely.

You forgot about Gallegos in a bullpen game.

9 hits over the last 2 games…it might be time to pull the plug and start over with a total house cleaning

Cardinals are back in the cellar with today’s loss coupled with a PIT win. They deserve the honor after the series loss in their own home to the worst team in the game.

I’m not one usually prone to hyperbole or venting but I think this situation calls for it. The Cardinals as an organization stink. There really isn’t one part of this organization from top to bottom that is performing well. Losing a series at home to one of the worst MLB teams in memory is humiliating and embarrasing.

Since the Cardinals are always prudish and conservative I don’t expect them to make any rash or bold changes but that is exactly what this team needs, from the the top on down. No one should feel safe. Instead we will get the same platitudes about being patient, blah , blah blah…

Your Honor I rest my case. I’ve said it for a while now they need to clean house. They need to trade the two betas they are overpaying to play first base and third base.

But this franchise is dead until they fire the POBO and the entire field staff. Every damn one of them. They need new ownership but the owner isn’t gonna fire himself. If it doesn’t happen soon it will be an even longer rebuild than it’s gonna be now. Nothing more needs to be said until they put out what has become an East St. Louis dumpster fire.

“These are the players we’re gonna to win with”…”The overall vibe has been there”…”It’s a different group, man…I mean, you compare this to how you felt last year, it’s not even remotely close…These guys are really getting after it”…If he just wouldn’t talk, it’d be good for 4 or 5 W’s a season.

Yep, it’s okay to say this is a bad ball club because they are. No positive spin or comments about the “vibe” change the fact that this club is bad and has been for over a year.

Just too many personnel mistakes and poor talent assessments by management. The red flag for me is the many non-on-field transactions they have made. First it was firing Shildt. Then this whole “get rid of guys that don’t want to compete” stuff or whatever dribble Marmol put out. Then it was “bring in leadership; that was our problem, lack of leadership”.

All that is stuff that makes you feel good because it is too painful to look at reality. And reality is, we give up more runs than we score, which means we are not very good.

We can wait a little longer and see how things go, but if this is not much different by mid season then management needs to start on the 3-5 year plan. Jettison the older players and look at who will most likely be better 3-5 years from now than they are today. Use that template to build a roster.

The problem is I am not sure this management group can accurately look at things in that light. Maybe Bloom will though, and will be given a shot to run the organization.

Someday we will look back on this time and say, “It’s weird that management could not see in Marmol and company what most of us fans saw much earlier.”

Anyone, at this point, who would trust to is FO to make good player decisions is delusional! I don’t know if it will happen but we MUST get rid of these bums to see the promised land again!
