Maybe Noot is about to finish his ST?

What does Noot have to do to get a ball to hit a gap? He keeps hitting nice fly balls but they don’t quite make it out and are toward a fielder.

Bringing Gallegos into a game is asking for trouble.

Yep, if you are in a close game and want to lose it, Gallegos is your man. Like we were saying last week, never use him except in a mop up role where you are up or down by a big margin. I said 3 before but now I would day up by at least 5, and down by at least 3.

Part of me wants to just leave Gio in there and say figure it out you already blew it, but you don’t want the game becoming unwinnable. Plus we want to conserve RP today.

It was not so very long ago that when the game was tight and getting late my heart would soar when I’d see Goldy would step up to the plate. Nowadays I merely hope he doesn’t move a lot of air around as he watches strike three.

I take it we won’t be picking up Gio’s club option?

Time for a phantom DL stint.

On a positive note I like what I have been seeing from Leahy. Now King gives up a hit. Pretty much need to keep him out there though even if it turns to a laugher.

Losing two out of three, at home, to the worst team in baseball! Pitiful! Just pitiful! And sticking Gallegos into a 1 to 1 game? We don’t even want to win! Get rid of these idiots in power and let’s start over!

Who would you have thrown out there?

They were lucky to get 3 scoreless out of Leahy. It’s not like they have good options available when used ML as the starter in a bullpen game.

In over 55 years of watching closely, I’ve not seen a worse stretch of Cardinal baseball than the one I’ve witnessed since the last inning of game 1 of the ’22 NLWC. Anyone else?

I really haven’t, LA. The folks in charge of this failure have to go.

The Cards were pretty bad when I first started watching them as a child of 9 or 10 (around the 1991 or 1992 season) and it was a road of futility until they had that good 1996 season, but really it wasn’t until 2000 that they became the Cardinals of this generation. It feels a bit spoiled to say this, but it’s not really a team that feels like it’s worth watching most of the time anymore. It’s Gray and a bunch of has beens in the rotation along with a couple of aging greats who can no longer carry the offense, along with the young guys who seem to have taken their cues from the old guard and shut it down.

    Was Molina really a 10 WAR/season player? It’s seeming that way…

After the great Cardinal teams of the early 60’s, the ’65 and ’66 teams were big letdowns, even though they played .500 ball during that stretch.

The bar is lower now, hoping for a wildcard berth, but that seems out of reach.

They were 2.5 games out of one starting today. So you’d be completely wrong.

So, at what point to the Cardinals release Gallegos from his $5.5 million contract?

Not even Rapp’s teams were worse.
