The A’s are 7-9, same record as the Cardinals.

Yeah, but the A’s were 3-11 at this time last season. Unlike the Cardinals, they’ve at least shown signs of improvement.

But the A’s don’t have the indispensable Andre Pallante and his ‘DeathGrip’.

Haha…Yeah, the old “Deathball” trick! I never thought I’d hear of such nonsense. TLR would have made certain that that term never got out to the media.

This team didn’t hit last year. And they havent hit this year. Who is the hitting coach?

Seems like all we do is either strikeout, hit little weak groundballs, or little weak flyballs.

    Something has to give…….

To be fair, Andre never said death to who and he’s getting killed out there.

Oakland has played a little better early on. But you have to think Sonny can bring home a win in the opener. The problem will be the series finale – we cannot close series.

This year it is looking like the Marlins and White Sox are the teams that will scramble to better the ‘62 Mets 40-120 record.

Speaking of the White Sox, I checked Paul DeJong’s line. 30 at bats, 5 hits. But 2 are doubles and 2 are homers.

Get this though – 15 strikeouts and no walks in 30 at bats!! No wonder the Sox are so bad.

Yeah my point was that the A’s have been better than expected. When I first saw them on the schedule I figured we would get the sweep. I no longer feel that way. And they are operating on a budget that would make the Rays blush and are averaging less than 5k fans per night.

It is definitely an uncomfortable situation in Oakland right now.

Cardinals are up and down and can’t seem to find themselves – at least not yet.

Too many guys not hitting their weight and the starting pitching is anybodies guess each game.

It may yet all come together.

Remember just be 71-71 then get hot the last 20 games and you are probably in the playoffs.

They do need to find people to go to those first 71 home games and load up on $15 cups of beer. I won’t be elbowing anyone aside at the ticket window.

Should be a good series to get on track against a bottom feeder. Unfortunately, the same also applies for the As.

Here is the lineup I would use tonight:

    Donovan, lf
    Winn, ss
    Arenado, 3b
    Contreras, DH
    Nootbaar, cf
    Herrera, c
    Gorman, 2b
Goldschmidt, 1b (or Burleson if you want to sit Goldy)
    Walker, rf

Goldschmidt at 7 or 8 until he gets untracked.

BikeMike I got ⅕Arenado moved down with Goldy and Herrera worked in while Walker can ride the pine. I’m not ready for Noot in cf. Scott gotta play a while longer.
I’m 67 and get up at 430 for a 9 hour shift I’m paid well for. Going in on 5 hrs sleep is tough. Not gonna sacrifice for this match up.

Yeah, who knows on Noot as far as center field. Management may have conferred with him about it and he said he does not think he can do it yet.

But you gotta have Winn at two right now – give your two best hitters the most reps. After that people will have their own opinions and nothing is necessarily wrong. Depends on who does what.

    My lineup would be:

    LF Donovan
    SS Winn
    DH Contreras
    3B Arenado
    RF Noot
    1B Goldy
    C Herrera
    2B Gorman
    CF Siani

Looks pretty good, but why Siani instead of Scott in CF? I’d throw caution to the wind and place Nootbar in CF and refrain from relegating Walker to the bench.

Gscottar has a good one as well. Somehow Ollie has to adjust to how things are going, and get away from doing the same basic thing without regard for his player’s production. That same old, same old has contributed to an average of 7 wins out of 16 games for a year plus.

Maybe had management not extended his agreement he would have a little fire in his belly and be willing to insightfully think about what he is doing.

The Cardinals won’t compete against an NLC opponent until their 20th game of the season this Friday vs. MIL. in StL. What’s worse is that the first 13 road games of this season have all been played during PDT. These schedule makers must have invested heavily in coffee futures during the off-season.

We’re going to like not having to stay up late in September, I’ll tell you that.

Siani and Scott are a tossup. Both are all glove no bat right now. I think Victor would benefit from a trip to Memphis, as would Walker.
