A pair of 3 run 1st inning bombs has Gibson and the Cardinals reeling….wish that it wasn’t real, but unfortunately it is. Well, we’re going to score some runs today too…….a lot of baseball to be played.

Wow, this one fell apart quick. You can’t burn up your bullpen here so Gibson is going to have to take one for the team, despite it being a batting practice session for the ‘Lins.

I guess if you’re going to be touched up for a couple of 3 run taters, it’s good to have 27 outs to get those 6 runs back.

Gibson sure didn’t resemble anything close to being a ground ball pitcher in this 1st inning. I don’t think anything was hit on the ground during his 39 1st inning pitches.

This Miami pitcher looks like a sophomore in high school.

…but pitches like a seasoned veteran.

Our only hope in this game is if he pitches like one too, BicycleMike.

Meyer sets us down in order in the bottom of the 1st. HAVE to stop the bleeding in the 2nd and keep these guys off the scoreboard.

Sonny with a manicure going on in the dugout. That might be the Cardinal highlight in this one.

    Haha BicycleMike!

7-0 now as Arraez, whom tripled (with a little help from Walker), scores on a ground ball out.

You wonder if Sonny Gray was named after Sonny Bono? And to all of our young rookie posters, Sonny Bono was not a power hitting Cardinal 1st baseman from 1980, but rather the loving husband of singer/actor Cher……whom maybe our young posters haven’t heard of either…..I know….certainly they’ve heard of Sonny & Cher’s child, Chastity Bono…..aka Chaz Salvatore Bono.

Everything being hit hard off Gibson. Still can’t give the quick book, even if they go double figures early.

I suppose you could bring in Liberatore and ask him to go six, then finish with Fernandez. That might be a decent alternative as long as Libby can be stretched out.

Well on a positive note, Gibson gives up only 1/6 of the number of runs in the second than he did in the first.

Gibson just needs to stick it out as long as he can – hopefully at least 5 innings then we may see Burleson on the bump, lol

    He “wanted to be here”.

    And he provides “veteran leadership”

A couple of good “Sonny’s” back in the day – Sonny Bono and Sonny Liston. Still remember getting that SI back in the day as a kid showing Cassius Clay (later Muhammad Ali) standing over the fallen Liston yelling at him to get up. Liston was a bruiser – rumors were he took an early fall influenced by gamblers.

Noot may well be activated in time for tomorrow night’s game. Obviously, someone would go out or on to the IL. Then, Grey supposedly for Teusday’s game, so that is another guy going out or on to the IL.

Most probably recall Sonny Siebert as a Cleveland Indian, but he actually pitched for the Redbirds for 1 season in 1974. He was a SP’er who logged well over 2000 IP’ed in his 12 year career in which he posted a very respectable 3.21 ERA.

Great one (Sonny Siebert), TD! Had forgot all about him. Trying to think of any other famous Sonnys…..how about Sonny Jurgenson, the old Redskin QB.

I don’t want to come across as bashing Burleson, but in addition to not hitting, all his outs seem like soft ones. He’s going to have to really amp up his bat in order to stay in StL.

Sonny Jurgensen – great call Pugs!! Terrific quarterback.

Maybe this game will be memorable and we will witness a perfecto.

Chip sounding like one of those old school announcers talking about taking in a game with an ice cold Budweiser. Must be in the genes.

Gibson has righted his floundering ship, but is it too late? We need to hit them with st least 3 runs here in the bottom of the 4th …..in a 7-0 Marlin ballgame.

Sonny Siebert is a good one too. Have a lot of his cards from back in the day. Same with Jurgensen.

Think we may witness a no-no today. Our club is prone to poor ABs, and this kid is locating well.
