Coincidences: We won games 1 and 4.

Mikolas started game 1 and relieved game 4.

Wong drove in the winning runs in game one with a double, and scored the winning run after a double in game 4.

2011 NLDS against the Phillies, Carp vs Halladay, it wasn’t even the most memorable game from that postseason for a Cardinal fan due to game 6 of the WS, but that’s easily a top 5 all time for me.

That being said, isn’t Flaherty due for his first CG SHO? He’s got the talent, learned from the first game and I wouldn’t be shocked at all if he pulled it off. If Schildt tried to bring in CMart to close it out, Flaherty might actually injure him to prevent that from happening.

Great job of reeling in the victory gang! These weekday afternoon games are brutal as I generally do not get home before 6p. I can’t wait to watch this one, but first things first….din-din…..mine fails miserably when pitted next to CardinalinFrance’s feast….polish sausage, sauerkraut with butter, baked beans smothered in vinegar and rum raisin ice cream. I wonder what Wooster & Rat are having?

Definitely a memorable game CardsFanInChiTown. One of my favorite memorable game 5’s was The Wizards walk off against Niedenfuer in the NLCS with the great Jack Buck telling Cardinal fans all over “Go Crazy folks, Go Crazy!” It May have not been a deciding game but it was big and I believe it was Smiths first homer as a lefty all year, maybe his career.

Your dinner sounds delicious Pugs, definitely a nominee for dinner of the night along with CardinalinFrance. On my menu tonight will be grilled carne asada and Pastor tacos, complimented with cilantro lime rice and savory retried beans.

My late night din-din while I watch an episode of Quincy will consist of chili and some bacon. And then a chocolate milkshake. And then a 7×50 Palma Real cigar while I finish watching Quincy and maybe the end of the Yankees/Twins game.

Dang, you guys are eatin’ good tonight, I was just gettin’ hungry and heading out to Whopper Land when Wong got that lead off single in the 10th. Glad I held up, I was thinking another Arizona marathon. Got to see the end! It was Crazy in my Cardinals house. Congrats Cardinals! Great game for the home team!

To chime in, we had homemade veggie lasagna, tossed salad, garlic bread, and homemade apple pie for dessert.

Oh, and a glass of red wine – Clos du Bois merlot.

Yep……..compared to CardinalinFrance’s, Rat’s, Dave’s, BicycleMike’s and even Wooster’s thoughts of indulging in a whopper…..your beans and veggie din-din finished well behind even the 2019 Mariners, CardsFanInChiTown.

Your din-din is right in CardinalinFrance’s neighborhood, Euro Dandy…..and it’s a pretty darn nice neighborhood.

I’d like to see Bader back in Center field Wednesday and Edman back at third base. We need the defense and they can still use Carp off the bench for a good left handed pinch hitter. Bader may not be hitting as good as Carp, but I think it’s still a better tradeoff to have Bader in center and his speed on the bases, and because Edman can be back on third base. Edman has made probably 10 plays at third base in the past 2-3 weeks that Carp would not have made. We need to just hope to get our offense from the rest of the lineup.

We went to an “apple fest” on Sat and I did have a delicious glass of fresh apple cider from the gallon I got there with my rice and veggies, but…. I still finished behind the 2019 Marlins and Tigers.

Due to my severe loss, I will just go drink and do other substances with Carlos tonight, tomorrow, tomorrow night and Wednesday during the day, then, just maybe, Schildt will put Cardsfaninchitown in the game to close out the 9th on Wed?!?

I sure wish Fowler and Dejong could contribute more to the offense.

I like Pauley D., but he best be careful or some hotshot youngster is going to come up soon and wrestle his SS position right away from him. Paul DeJong – Garry Templeton – Dal Maxvill – Royce Clayton. Because of those darn strike outs, Paul might rank 3rd and maybe even 4th amongst these fine Cardinal SS’s.

CardsFanInChiTown’s nickname….. “The Closer”……I like it and it certainly fits.

    What a gutsy win…backs to the wall…

lost in the madness…Mikolas with a great job in relief

also…as much as i love Yadi…he hit a sac fly…Wong is the one that did the hard part…his leadoff double is so much more important than Yadi’s sac fly

alli read is YADI YADI YADI…and lal he did was get a fly out, his TYING rbi was so much more of why Yadi is great…not pretty, not even perfect…but just enough at the right time

Wong deserves the torn shirt not Yadi

as for Paul…i honestly think we have to consider sitting him and putting Edman at SS…Edman was so close to making several bad plays in the outfield….i think id take Edman as a lesser SS to Paul rather than what he could cause in the OF….Paul’s bat is really bad right now…even when he was not getting out he almost caused more problems…

at least Fowler has been taking good ABs and making the pitchers work, and also hitting some really hard balls.. Paul is making me consider batting the pitcher 8th if we need to keep him in the lineup…the pitchers look better out there

I wonder if shildt would consider a Randy Arozarena start and Edman at SS game… see if they can spark the offense, and the sub Edma to 3b, Paul to SS and in, and Bader in for Ozuna or Fowler late…for defense

I doubt he would do it…but the offense is a train wreck right now…Goldy and yesterdays version of Ozuna is nice and all…but it’s been pretty poor throughout the series

Chitown, are you trying to live to 100? While a worthy goal I don’t think it is worth it if you have to eat that every night. I thought folks in Chicago ate polish sausage and UNO’s deep dish pizza.

I totally agree with this but I know it won’t happen. DeJong is a disaster at the plate but Shildt would never do a shakeup of that magnitude this time of year.

I like Shildt ok. I think he is a fine in-game manager, light years ahead of Matheny when it comes to in-game strategy. Where I find fault with Shildt is his extreme loyalty to certain players and a real stubbornness to make the necessary changes. He will get it to eventually (like he did with Carp and Bader) but it takes much much longer than it should.
