Boy, cannot understand Martinez coming in here. I know Shildt said he would see how looks, talk to him etc, and wants to give him a chance to be succesful after the first two appearances.
But this is really taking a chance.
Who is left to pitch if not Martinez? Leave the rookie Helsley in? No easy decisions… Looks like Mikolas is next man up.
Think you pitch to him – he’s struggling some. Man, this is scary. I would have gone with Mikolas in this inning, with the plan to keep him in there for awhile if needed.
Martinez looked much better today. Too bad this might be his last inning up 3rd unless we win it with a big fly.
If the cards don’t have someone better to put in that martinez, they are in serious trouble. he may have gotten by in the 9th, but …..
Whew, congrats to CMart. That hit by Molina just over infielders jump was great. This has turned into an awesome game. Go Cardinals!
Wow we escaped. Votive candle still lit. Can one of the .150 hitters do something? Walk, bunt put some pressure on the bases?
Whew – Martinez pitches around the lead off double. Shannon actually called it a home run off the bat – glad he was wrong.
