The highlights for me thus far was watching Goldschmidt in his first 2 at bats vs Peralta. Talk about total domination. If Goldy batted 100 times vs Freddy, I bet he’d get 50 hits….and about 25 walks.

If Gant pitches to his strength, he could be a real asset in the 5th and 6th innings for this team. Nice work yesterday and today.

Top of 6. Taylor Williams on for Milwaukee.

Goldy- Tees off on a 3-2 slider to left…..back!….and long gone!!! 5-4 Cards on Goldy’s second homer on the evening!

    DeJong- Base hit to center.

Ozuna- Ground ball to Arcia at short and this might be a deuce….to Moose at 2nd for one, but the throw to 1st will not get the streaking Marcell. 1 out.

Yadi- Grounds it down to Shaw at 3rd who’ll fire it to Moustakas at 2nd for one, but that’s all they’ll get as no throw to 1st is attempted.

    Fowler- Whiffs

    Cards 5

Fowler is no different than last season. Just isn’t going to change for him. Sometimes you are who you are.

I wonder if Jose would have executed that twin killing at 1st?? Stranger things have happened.

Yeah this is not the start Dexter had hoped for. I thought he might be on to something with those walks in his first two at bats. Still early though…..I was shoveling snow just a mere 3 weeks ago.

That RBI single was announced as Carpenter’s 1000th career hit. Did anyone else assume he already had more than that?

I would definitely have assumed that, although his average has fallen off the last few seasons so the hit totals were probably not there.

That was a huge miss of location by Barnes to Goldschmidt. 3rd homer!

And Carpenter scores on Goldschmidt’s third homer of the game. Cards up 8-4.

Top of 7. Barnes is the next man up out of the Milwaukee pen.

Wong- Shoots a grounder right on up the middle and out into center for yet another Cardinal leadoff hit tonight.

Bader- Whacks a moonshot to center!….but it’s not going to have enough mustard to leave the yard as Cain will catch it and Wong will safely sprint into 2nd…..like to see more of that .

JMart- Look how confident Jose is up at the dish…..this man needs his 4-5 at bats a game…… he’s just screaming for it. I wish there was some way he could magically become a mediocre fielder. Strikes out swinging on what would have been ball 4 in the dirt.

Carp- Smokes a Barnes heater over Moose’ head and into center for a hit! Wong scores and we’re now looking at a 6-4 Cardinal advantage! And Carp wants that ball back??

Goldy- Lambastes a shot to deep left that isn’t coming back!!! Home run #3 for Goldy on this fine Friday evening and that will extend the Cardinal lead to 8-4……sweet!

    DeJong- Grounds out to 2nd

yea brian if I hadn’t already heard that last night, I would have been surprised he didn’t have more but I think he was older when he finally got his shot, im not sure though.

Top of 8. Chase Anderson the new main man for Milwaukee.

Ozuna- Pops out to Aguilar in foul turf over by the Brewers dugout to open the Redbird 8th.

Yadi- Walks on a 3-2 wide one.

Fowler- Dexter NEEDS to put some decent wood on one. Sizzles a shot to right for a hit!…..Yadi will steam on over to 3rd.

Wong- Pops it up in back of short where Arcia will venture out and glove it forf the out.

Bader- A wild one will elude Grandal and Yadi will score the 8th Cardinal run! Bader grounds out….6-5.
