ParticipantUnbelievable that they keep putting Edman in the OF.
August 16, 2019 at 2:58 pm #102465We’ve had our share of bad play on the field this year, but the only thing that is embarrassing is coming from our dugout.
August 16, 2019 at 2:59 pm #102466Edman is the backup to every position. Hopefully we’re up 10-0 tonight so he can pitch. The Not So Secret Weapon.

stlcard25ParticipantWow, I am shocked…I thought we were done with Edman in the outfield, what with four legit outfielders on the roster and all…
Hopefully Tommy goes 3-4 tonight to reward Shildt’s faith in him. I’m not holding my breath.
August 16, 2019 at 4:09 pm #102475I am absolutely rolling on the floor laughing this afternoon over all the teeth gnashing and whining about Edman playing in the OF. When he first arrived and hit a grand slam and everything else as well as did some outstanding fielding and displayed a rocket arm he was the forum hero. Then word got around that Lane Thomas was better (or so some said) so the politicking was on to get him up. Up he comes and is immediately crowned as the new wonder boy – hits his grand slam and a triple and even gets a couple of starts but Shildt plays a switch hitter in the OF and the natives go wild. Then word starts leaking out that Arozorena is being held captive at AAA and needs to be freed. The natives win once again and, lo and behold, the next hero arrives and manages a couple of starts and a couple of hits and maybe he doesn’t satisfy his fans because they almost immediately revert to Lane Thomas as being the ‘victim’ of bench rot again. Seems like our heroes only last a day or two until it becomes obvious they are, as Tony said, only humans not robots.
Keep me laughing fellers. I will stick with whatever Shildt comes up with as I have no control nor does anybody else here. But thanks for the humor. Whomever it was that quoted Edmans recent stats – thanks but they went right over a lot of heads of his detractors. Folks – they all wear the birds on the bat and even though I have to hold my nose everytime Carpenter steps to the plate, I hope the best for him because it will be best for the team.
Thanks Brian Harper. You are an honorary Cardinal for the rest of this season.
August 16, 2019 at 4:46 pm #102477Excellent starting line-up!
August 16, 2019 at 4:55 pm #102478MM3, if it weren’t the for the FSM broadcasters their would be nothing for you to complain about in Cardinal Land. I admire your serenity.
August 16, 2019 at 6:24 pm #102482Tommy Edman’s speed makes us go.
August 16, 2019 at 6:24 pm #102483
stlcard25ParticipantThe Cards get the scoring started after Edman lifts a single to left center, then after a Goldy strikeout, Ozuna smokes one to the wall. It’s 1-0 Cards.
August 16, 2019 at 6:31 pm #102484Maybe we need to re-sign Ozuna.
August 16, 2019 at 6:42 pm #102488
stlcard25ParticipantThe Cards are making Castillo work. Back to back singles with two outs in the 2nd. Fowler up now and he smokes one into the right field seats! 4-0 Cards!

Yeah, thanks for them. Otherwise I am mostly but not always happy because there is nothing I can do about the games except read the disgruntled posts of many on the forums. They add to my entertainment.

You forgot the Cards beat writers at MLB.com.
Anyway, we are all extremely gruntled here…
August 16, 2019 at 6:48 pm #102491The post-Buddha-clarity-of-messaging dividend just kicked in.
August 16, 2019 at 6:50 pm #102492I sense a 5 year extension coming for Dex.

stlcard25ParticipantThe post-Buddha-clarity-of-messaging dividend just kicked in.
Ha, maybe so! I do like being aggressive 3-0. Walks are fine sometimes but when you know you’re gonna get a good pitch to hit, you go for it.
Nice start so far for Waino. Just keep throwing zeroes, Waino. You’re in Busch!
August 16, 2019 at 6:56 pm #102494
stlcard25ParticipantOzuna singles and now Dejong with a bomb! 6-0 Cards!
August 16, 2019 at 6:59 pm #102495Maybe PDJ is getting untracked. Or is it back on track? Or for Pugs, off the schneid.
August 16, 2019 at 7:01 pm #102496A nice discussion of backspin and the juiced ball by Edmonds.
August 16, 2019 at 7:01 pm #102497Why is dexter Fowler playing!?!?
August 16, 2019 at 7:03 pm #102498Right hand pitcher. Go Cardinals, YOWZA!
August 16, 2019 at 7:04 pm #102499
stlcard25ParticipantGeez, Waino gets squeezed majorly on a pitch that was well within the zone.
August 16, 2019 at 7:05 pm #102500
stlcard25ParticipantEdman with the missed fly ball. Not sure if Fowler gets there though. The next pitch is a single and there’s trouble brewing.
August 16, 2019 at 7:07 pm #102501Third inning has an awful start, 2 on and no outs. Should be two outs and none on. Ump blew the called 3rd strike on Barnhart and the Edman error turns into a single for Iglesias. Wainwright needs to bear down to keep a good lead.
August 16, 2019 at 7:08 pm #102502Edman got there; he just missed the catch. Looked to me like he may have been worried about the wall coming up and took his eye off the ball.
