Wainwright did a great job pitching out of the jam.
August 16, 2019 at 7:13 pm #102504Wainwright works around the problems for a scoreless 3rd. Had to throw 9 extra pitches to cover for the ump’s missed call and the error.
August 16, 2019 at 7:25 pm #102505LOL at Aquino arguing the called 3rd strike on an uncle charlie that pretty much split the plate in half at his belt.
August 16, 2019 at 7:30 pm #102506Now Goldy off the schneid for a 2-run HR. Score 8-0.
August 16, 2019 at 7:30 pm #102507
stlcard25ParticipantGoldy crushes one to right center…8-0 Cards!
August 16, 2019 at 7:34 pm #102508Matt Bowman now in relief for the Reds.
August 16, 2019 at 7:36 pm #102509
stlcard25ParticipantThis would be a good low pressure game for Carp to get going again. He was swinging for the fences on the first pitch. He ends up striking out.
August 16, 2019 at 7:43 pm #102510Lookin good tonight, keep it rollin Cardinals!
August 16, 2019 at 7:43 pm #102511
stlcard25ParticipantNice start so far for Waino. He’s through 5 innings with no runs allowed and he’s at 62 pitches.
August 16, 2019 at 7:50 pm #102512
stlcard25ParticipantThat Fowler guy is making his thread look worse and worse every at bat tonight. Ha. 9-0 Cards
August 16, 2019 at 7:51 pm #102513This would be a good low pressure game for Carp to get going again. He was swinging for the fences on the first pitch. He ends up striking out.
Seems like nothing changes, no noticeable adjustments. After his 3rd AB tonight, his OPS is .580 since returning.
Wong, on the other hand, just got another oppo hit. Hats off to him for what he’s doing recently.
Fowler just drove in Yadi for a 9-0 lead.
August 16, 2019 at 7:52 pm #102514
stlcard25ParticipantNow Edman drives in Wong and the ball is thrown away at third. It’s 11-0!
August 16, 2019 at 7:56 pm #102515My Scottish Ale sure has a good flavor tonight. Cards up 12-0. Bowman still in the game, I guess taking one for the team.
August 16, 2019 at 7:57 pm #102516
stlcard25ParticipantThese games where we crush the opponents and don’t give up many runs are a lot of fun.
August 16, 2019 at 8:11 pm #102517Haha at Chris Welsh describing some of the analytics on hit probability and explaining how the Cards have a lucky 12-0 lead because the hits shouldn’t be hits, they just happen to be falling in there. Brennaman agreed with him, but then added “you’re exactly right, I mean some of them have been killed, the home runs are a whole different game . . . . but you’re right.” Funny stuff.
August 16, 2019 at 8:11 pm #102518How did we go from 1-2 to 12-0? Needed at least one or two of these hits last night. Uh–oh? Hope we don’t need all 12 runs.
August 16, 2019 at 8:14 pm #102519Time to relieve Waino, don’t let em creep back in
August 16, 2019 at 8:23 pm #102520Wong at 277?
9 HR
43 RBICan he get out of #8?
August 16, 2019 at 8:25 pm #102521I never put it together until now, but Dexter Fowler must be the poster know as atripleshyofthecycle.
August 16, 2019 at 8:31 pm #102522I’m surprised that they left Wainwright in. He’s earned his keep.
August 16, 2019 at 8:38 pm #102524
stlcard25ParticipantWaino was decent…and he was very good while the game was still in doubt. 6-2/3 is acceptable in that park.
August 16, 2019 at 8:42 pm #102525I’m surprised too Diz. This was a chance to give Edman some work on the mound (sorry, couldn’t resist).
Wainwright came out in the 7th with two outs. Carp let one go through the wicket or else Wainwright Would have completed the 7th. Brebbia finished the 7th by retiring the first batter he faced. Cards lead 13-4.
August 16, 2019 at 8:50 pm #102526
stlcard25ParticipantI think Carpenter found most every way to not get a hit in this game…K, pop out, line out, ground out, walk.
August 16, 2019 at 8:56 pm #102527Bucs just walk it off against the cubs with 2 outs in the 9th, 3-2. Heartbreak Hotel week for the cubs.
August 16, 2019 at 8:58 pm #102528
stlcard25ParticipantThe Cubs took a 2-1 lead in the 8th, but the Pirates come back and win it on a walk off single with the bases juiced to win it 3-2. The Cards should gain a game and the Cubs lose in cruel fashion once again. 😁
