If the Cubs somehow miss the playoffs altogether Counsell will have to be wondering why he made the move 90 miles south.

No doubt about that but it has to be grinding his gears to see his former team pulling away in such dominating fashion.

And not too long ago I was reminded that Mike Schildt is supposedly being paid $4M a year to manage in SD. That’ll go a long way to soothe the sting of being canned by the Cardinals.

And yeah, Counsell has to be aware that the team he ditched has passed him up as though he were running in reverse.
