jj-cf-stlParticipantLate and close…..
August 10, 2025 at 9:05 pm #290201If Rat’s new digs is gonna be “Fiddlers On The Roof”, something needs to be going on, on the roof! Fiddlers or even a band stand and dance floor?
By golly I think you’re on to something, Wooster. Ummmm dancing coupled with a real life musical fiddler. My initial plan was to have a classical fiddler playing nice soft music while diners enjoyed their catfish fiddlers at “Fiddlers On the Roof”. But now Wooster has me rethinking this……maybe we’ll go with a fast rowdy fiddler like that young fellow at the start of that Burt Reynolds movie “Deliverance”….with people stomping their feet and dancing like crazy on the dance floor. Thanks Wooster!
August 10, 2025 at 9:08 pm #290202O’Brian looking great……so far.

ParticipantSure glad we have Sonny Gray this year!

jj-cf-stlParticipantHit it to Winn, fine idea.
August 10, 2025 at 9:14 pm #290205Romero gets it done. One more inning. I’d give my left pinky for an insurance run or two here in the bottom of the 8th.
August 10, 2025 at 9:16 pm #290206Wooster2
ParticipantRun I think I hear banjos Pugs! Well that bit of 8th inning drama was scary. Good game bith teams want this one!
August 10, 2025 at 9:21 pm #290207Oh yeah that was a banjo and not a fiddler at the beginning of the hit movie “Deliverance”…..thanks Wooster. Maybe we go with a dueling fiddler-banjo combo?
August 10, 2025 at 9:23 pm #290208I just checked the Big League leaders for BA and saw that with about 45 games left to play there are 7 players who have so far managed to maintain an average of .300 or above. In 1980 there were 48 players who ended the season with a .300 or above batting average. That’s astounding. George Brett led all hitters for that ’80 season at a .390 clip.
August 10, 2025 at 9:23 pm #290209Pete Crow-Armstrong being pinch hit for. That may really mess him up more, but what does he expect with a .193 BA vs lefties.
August 10, 2025 at 9:25 pm #290210How was that not strike 3?! If they come back to beat us it was because of that call.
August 10, 2025 at 9:29 pm #290211I’m thinking the .300 hitter may soon be a thing of the distant past. Rat won’t like it, but somewhere around .275 may soon become the new benchmark for the best pure hitters in the Big Leagues.
August 10, 2025 at 9:32 pm #290212Certainly seems to be trending in that direction, TD.
August 10, 2025 at 9:33 pm #290213Ballgame……cubbies now 6 games back.
August 10, 2025 at 9:34 pm #290214
jj-cf-stlParticipantGame ball to Pages
August 10, 2025 at 9:34 pm #290215I couldn’t hardly hardly believe it when I saw that 48 hitters ended the ’80 season at .300 or above, Pugs. And that’s a big Redbird W!
August 10, 2025 at 9:36 pm #290216The bottom of the order did all the hitting. Top went Ofer.
August 10, 2025 at 9:36 pm #290217Pugs?
Not only are they six games out but now they head to Toronto. Things aren’t looking good in Wrigleyville at the moment.
August 10, 2025 at 9:38 pm #290218
jj-cf-stlParticipantPages and the bench did enough when we pitch well.
August 10, 2025 at 9:39 pm #290219Wooster2
ParticipantIts a Winner! Go Cardinals!
August 10, 2025 at 9:43 pm #290220Man beating the Cubs never gets old. Good job guys. The 9th was a little shaky but Jo Jo gets the job done. I like it.
The Cubs are going to make the playoffs but their chances of winning the NLC are fading fast. Such a shame.
August 10, 2025 at 9:46 pm #290221The WC races are really beginning be a crowded affair. Looks like almost every team in each league is in contention for a participation trophy or at least an ice cream or a snow cone after the game…Oh well, that seems to be what the bosses wanted.
August 10, 2025 at 9:47 pm #290222Thoroughly enjoyable game to watch. It’s amazing what a difference it makes when a player like Gray is really feeling it.
August 10, 2025 at 9:48 pm #290223They might not make the playoffs, gscottar. They only lead the NLWC by 4.5 games with about 45 more to play. And besides that, they’re the Cubbies…
