85 your recollection is accurate.
August 10, 2025 at 3:35 pm #290131Pugs, you didn’t attend the World Series in 1982?
Wouldn’t have missed it for all of the tea in Taiwan, but we had already moved from Whitefish Bay, WI to Chagrin Falls, OH, Scotty. I was relegated to watching Indian games in that huge dark mostly vacant stadium of their’s by the lake.
Pugs? You get a lot of rain up in your area last night?
A fair amount, but nothing troubling, Rat. We get very little flooding and tornadoes up here. And when tornadoes do touch down, they’re almost always of the F-0 and F-1 variety. We’re pretty much buffeted from all of the real nasty weather. They get pelted with a bad one just to the south of us in Illinois and to the west in Minnesota and Iowa every now and then, but not here in America’s Dairyland.
Let’s pray that Sonny brings his A game to the rubber for the second consecutive game. We owe these bums for how rudely they treated us in Wrigley recently. I think we’ll be equal to the task at hand tonight. Let’s call it 6-4 Birds with Victor Scott finding the cheap seats with bat in hand…..shall we?
August 10, 2025 at 3:49 pm #290137The Brewers have came back and tied the Mets 6-6 heading to the 9th at Miller Park.
Our old buddy Ryan Helsley hasn’t really done all that great for the Mets so far.
Milwaukee wouldn’t pull another one out of the hat, would they???
August 10, 2025 at 3:58 pm #290138Hey Rat, I should never ever question your meteorological prowess. I guess over in Milwaukee they did have some flooding last night, just as you foresaw. Very unusual occurrence for that area, but one that did not baffle you. We still have to get Rat and Front Row Amy together for a nice din-din at a fancy-smancy restaurant like Chez Luis or the soon-to-be Fiddlers On the Roof. Talk about a match made in heaven.
August 10, 2025 at 4:01 pm #290139They might. They’ve won 26 of their last 30 games. That’s smoking hot.
August 10, 2025 at 4:46 pm #290141And the Brewers win again. A come from behind 7-6 win over the Mets today. Isaac Collins a big dong in the last of the 9th that broke the 6-6 tie.
If the Cubs lose this one tonight they will fall six games back. And the Cubs go to Toronto after tonight’s game. In my mind this game tonight is a very important one for the Cubs.
Pugs?
I wonder if Front Row Amy likes Catfish Fiddlers?August 10, 2025 at 4:50 pm #290142Taking a gander at the meteorological conditions for tonight’s game at Sportsman’s Park in St. Louis.
As I type this, according to the Doppler Radar, there is a big pile of green stuff directly over the downtown St. Louis area. And, also according to the Doppler Radar, it doesn’t appear to be moving either.
I expect a delay in this one tonight. And as I type this it is raining here in SW Indiana.

August 10, 2025 at 5:53 pm #290154Pugs? I wonder if Front Row Amy likes Catfish Fiddlers?
She’s afraid to try them, Rat. Amy’s fear is that they (in her words) “will probably taste fishy”. But my thinking is that if we can get Rat & Front Row Amy together at din-din, she’ll be looking to impress Rat, thus won’t want to appear wimpy. I bet she gobbles the entire plate down and even orders another heaping plate of Fiddlers, even if they turn her stomach………all to gain favor with Rat. Hey Rat, another beauty of a meteorological report! Where else can one get an accurate weather report for both the greater St. Louis area and S.W. Indiana…….all in one fell swoop? The key word being “accurate”, as Rat’s weather forecasting batting average far exceeds that of the late great Ty Cobb’s stellar baseball batting average.
August 10, 2025 at 6:20 pm #290156And as expected, this one is in a rain delay.
ETA for first pitch is being touted as 8:00 est. That’s 7:00 cst.
I was all ready to go for first pitch too. I had just sat down with my Grape drink – no, not Nehi Grape. And had just cut a cigar. Then I tuned over to ESPN and saw there was a delay.
Oh well, the Grape drink is in the fridge and the cigar is back in the humidor.
August 10, 2025 at 6:26 pm #290157FYI here,
The woman umpire, Jen Pawol, was behind the plate for the Marlins/Braves game today at Fulton County Stadium in Atlanta. The very first pitch was inside – not way inside but definitely inside – and she called it a strike. You draw your own conclusions.
August 10, 2025 at 6:28 pm #290158And as expected, this one is in a rain delay.
Another great call, Rat. Hey Rat, do you think this game will actually get going at 7pm(cst)? If not, what is the exact time that tonight’s first pitch will be flung? For all of you new posters here, never bother going to the weather channel, or God forbid, your local weather team. Come right here for Rat’s forecast, as he’s never wrong about meteorological matters. As proof, wait to see what Rat predicts for the exact time for our first pitch tonight…….it’ll be money in the bank slam dunk accurate.
August 10, 2025 at 6:39 pm #290159My gut feeling is first pitch will be at 8:07 est. That’s 7:07 cst.
And another FYI here,
The homeplate umpire woman punched out three hitters on strikes today. Two of them were like that first pitch – inside but not way inside. The 3rd one late in the game was a slider that might have caught the outside edge.Overall I would give her a B- for her grade today.
August 10, 2025 at 6:52 pm #290160Was she wearing as many diamonds and pearls as the players? And I’m guessing that her skirt was reasonably fashionable…Maybe an A-line or even a little blue dress?
August 10, 2025 at 6:56 pm #290161The flooding ended up going into the dugouts and into the Cubs batting cage behind the dugout. Makes you wonder how the Dewitt’s will play this with the half bil they are asking for in renovations to Busch III and 20 years of age.
August 10, 2025 at 7:13 pm #290162Wow what a slump. It’s kind of looking like Crow-Armstrong may end up going 0-August.

August 10, 2025 at 7:29 pm #290169Wooster2
ParticipantStill getting the pre game dinner menus?
August 10, 2025 at 7:32 pm #290170Sure are, but today’s game thread is strangely silent on the din-dins, Wooster. My din-din tonight was 2 egg salad sandwiches, deviled eggs, baked beans and 2 Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies.
August 10, 2025 at 7:50 pm #290171My wife is off visiting her sister so my din din was the leftover half of yesterday’s Costco rotisserie chicken and a giant slab of watermelon.
August 10, 2025 at 7:51 pm #290172Jnevel’s boy(Pages) goes yard! 2-0 Birds.
Not a bad din-din, Bling.
