Now just completely forget about that runner at 1st…..he means nothing. Get the man at the dish.

Ballgame! Now let’s complete the sweep tomorrow afternoon. None of these B lineups tomorrow like TLR used to send out there when he had golden opportunities to sweep. These Padres are ripe to be swept…..don’t let them off the hook.

Quality start, 5 runs scored and Siani gets the game ball. He changed two innings for Miles.

    Nighty nite, Jnevel.

    Siani sure did, JJ.

I noted this in Rob Rains’s game report: “The Cardinals scored their five runs despite going 0-of-6 with runners in scoring position.”

It is great to see guys like Scott and Winn and Siani finding ways to make things happen, and Marmol managing the situations to good effect. I was glad to read Marmol called out that kind of play in his post game.

Contreras looked good in the three hole. Marmol mentioned Contreras as well, but that doesn’t mean the strike out king won’t be back batting third today.

Lest we get a big head, 3-3 is good for sole possession of last place in the mighty NL Central.

Hey Bb, I don’t know if you read the game thread, but I gave you your props for suggesting Contreras batting third.

What I can’t decide, is who you agreed with. Are you on the same page with the wonk room? Or maybe you are in lock step with Oli? Bwahaha!

Strange bedfellows, indeed, but hey, whoever’s idea it was, it worked! 😉

It sure is fun watching Victor Victoria…..have no idea where the “Victoria” part came from? I haven’t had a favorite Cardinal since Tommy Herr back in the day. The way he glides to balls defensively and the pressure he puts on opposing pitchers and defenders is priceless……you just can’t put a dollar amount on it……though the day will come where Victor will put about 25MM a year on it. Other than a hard comebacker that a pitcher handles cleanly, any ground ball Victor hits has the tangible potential of putting him where the opposing team dreads…..on the base paths. And once there is where the real excitement begins…..if you’re a Cardinal fan. It’s going to be a sad day when Victor gets sent back down to the farm when Edman, Carlson and Nooty return…..and I love those three.

I keep reminding myself that Scott had already been sent down. When Carlson got his legs chopped, plans changed.

Carlson and Edman may be a month behind Noot, and another injury could bring Scott right back. The FO may be trying to preserve Victors rookie status, today, but that could keep changing on them like it already has.

Maybe Edman becomes the next Bader deadline deal, traded w/a season-and-a-half control?

It may turn out that the FO uses Scott’s rookie status this season. The 45 days Winn logged last season go by fast, and if we’re contending down the stretch, who doesn’t want Scott on the roster?

It would be more enjoyable to watch Scott’s immediate progression, if it hadn’t came at Carlsons expense, but plans change. TBD.

When I can’t stay up to see the end of a game or see the results, I like to come here to read the game thread and catch up. Well done last night in bringing home the win, folks. Now let’s get the sweep and finish a winning west coast swing.

Coming home 4-3 would be great, 3-4 would still be pretty good when we were staring at 1-6 or 2-5.

My guess is the lineup algo glitched and they will have it ‘fixed’ for today’s lineup.

Siani is the perfect 5th OF. Can give you the occasional spot start, very good baserunner, and appears to be an elite defender for the late innings. I am glad he is on the roster.

I’m sure that Miles is happy about the strong pitching performance. However, what he needed far more than that was the ‘W’.
The Cards have not supported him with run support very well the last two years.

Victor says, “Don’t send me down…”
