I disagree Pugs. While I think he’s fast enough to leg out enough hits to still be effective, I really want him to learn to hit better. He was not much above a league average hitter at AA last year even with his legs. He needs a whole season of work. This would only be his second full minor league season.
April 2, 2024 at 9:31 pm #246213Walker has to take command on that play and call Donovan off.
April 2, 2024 at 9:34 pm #246214
jj-cf-stlParticipantBig out Siani. He can make difficult look routine.
April 2, 2024 at 9:35 pm #246215I hear you Jnevel. That has been my thinking too until just the other day. I think he’s starting to settle in nicely now. We’ll know more very soon.
Boy is Siani ever nifty with the leather……very tough catch to make….he just saved us from a potentially crushing inning …..just 2-1 Pads heading to the 5th.
April 2, 2024 at 9:39 pm #246216It’s nice to have some great leather on the field. That to me was the biggest debacle last year. It ruined our starting pitchers and put lots of extra innings and stress on the pen ruining them too.
April 2, 2024 at 9:42 pm #246217Third time through the order for Mikolas now. That typically spells trouble.

jj-cf-stlParticipantTrouble or a quality start…
April 2, 2024 at 9:50 pm #246219
jj-cf-stlParticipantYah, we should just go on a win streak.
April 2, 2024 at 9:50 pm #246220Sounds as if the San Diego faithful had a little bit of the Wave going on…..talk about Lame with a capital “L”! I once told my ex-wifey at a Brewer game, in the midst of a Wave, to shoot me right between the eyes if I ever were to participate in a Wave.
April 2, 2024 at 9:50 pm #246221Made Miles work. Should have had strike 3 looking there, but gets the fly out to end the inning.
April 2, 2024 at 9:56 pm #246222Time to start roughing up Mr. Darvish. He’s had several pitches tonight that were just waiting to get whacked.
April 2, 2024 at 9:56 pm #246223Nice PA from Donovan to draw the BB. Have to make Darvish work a little harder than 58 pitches through 6.
April 2, 2024 at 9:57 pm #246224Goldy still hasn’t shook his exhibition play hitting funk.
April 2, 2024 at 9:58 pm #246225
jj-cf-stlParticipantBoom!
3-2
April 2, 2024 at 9:58 pm #246226Yes!!!!
April 2, 2024 at 9:59 pm #246227Contreras ramrods a 2 run jack to center…..3-2 Birds.
April 2, 2024 at 9:59 pm #246228
jj-cf-stlParticipantHey, Bling called Contreras to the 3spot this morning. Nailed it.
April 2, 2024 at 10:01 pm #246229I was thinking as Contreras came to bat that only 4 of our guys look competitive as hitters tonight – Donnie, Arenado, Winn, and Contreras. Way to go Wilson.
April 2, 2024 at 10:02 pm #246230Didn’t take long for Oli’s move of Contreras to the #3 hole to start paying dividends. Oh oh, pitching coach out to visit Darvish……don’t take him out!
April 2, 2024 at 10:03 pm #246231Contreras trying to atone for being the cause of the Cardinal pitching collapse in ’23…
April 2, 2024 at 10:03 pm #246232Burleson forgot to grab his pitching wedge for that swinging strikeout.
April 2, 2024 at 10:03 pm #246233
jj-cf-stlParticipantDid Bling just pre-endorse a wonk decision, or Oli lineup decision?
April 2, 2024 at 10:05 pm #246234Maybe both
April 2, 2024 at 10:05 pm #246235
jj-cf-stlParticipantJust do the quality start thing Miles
April 2, 2024 at 10:06 pm #246236Mikolas gets to face 3 guys this inning who are 4 for 6 with 3 doubles against him tonight.
