SS Masyn Winn RMarch 29, 2024 at 6:13 pm #245428Gorman hit .209 with 34 RBI’s in 229 PA’s from the 3 slot last season. He hit .296 with 29 RBI’s in 147 PA’s from the 5 and 6 slots of the order. I think it’s a lousy idea to place all the pressure on the 23 yr. old by writing his name into the most important position of the batting order. He clearly does better in the 5 and 6 slots, but the Redbird manager seems to be incoherent and is unable to recognize this simple fact.
March 29, 2024 at 6:18 pm #245429You can sign up for a 7 day trial of apple tv+ and cancel it. I’m not going to do it because I have my ways of watching now but maybe a couple who really want to watch these games should consider.
It is silly if you have the extra innings or mlbtv app that you don’t get all the games. I can see the frustration on that.I also think it’s BS you can’t watch MLB Network if you buy either of those.
March 29, 2024 at 6:22 pm #245430He will just have to put on his big boy pants, TD.
March 29, 2024 at 6:30 pm #245433Yeah, I’d say that’s what he’s going to have to do, but I still think the team would be better served by placing one of the proven veteran bats in the 3 slot. To win games, I mean…

jj-cf-stlParticipantI hope Thompson can do better than Mikolas. Tough opponent.
March 29, 2024 at 6:33 pm #245435It is a bad idea putting Gorman in the 3 spot. Just terrible!
March 29, 2024 at 6:36 pm #245436Assuming OlliMo is determined to lead with Donovan and Goldschmidt, I can’t think of a lineup I like with Gorman batting somewhere else. Maybe when some guys come back.
March 29, 2024 at 6:42 pm #245437
jj-cf-stlParticipantThere’s a way to move Gorman down, but it fits best w/a righty leading off.
March 29, 2024 at 6:53 pm #245438Yeah, Thompson won’t get any bargains tonight. In my view the toughest first hitter in the Big Leagues for a SP’er to work to is Betts. And it doesn’t get any easier once Mookie reaches…
March 29, 2024 at 7:07 pm #245439Gorman could be a good 3 hitter, but as of now I would go this way:
Donovan
Scott
Goldschmidt
Arenado
Gorman
Contreras
Burleson
Walker
WinnMarch 29, 2024 at 7:07 pm #245440How about we don’t start off the game by walking him.
March 29, 2024 at 7:19 pm #245441
jj-cf-stlParticipantWalker
Donovan
Goldy
Arenado
Gorman
Contreras
Burly
Winn
ScottNoot 5th and Gorman 7th ideally
March 29, 2024 at 7:21 pm #245442Let’s say Thompson pitches 5 strong innings (not a prediction, just what if). Do you yank him at that point, or wait until he lets the first three batters in the 6th get on?
March 29, 2024 at 7:48 pm #245444Yeah, you have to work to him with Ohtani and Freddie looming. The nightmare is that he’s as dangerous, or more so, as the next two.
March 29, 2024 at 7:54 pm #245445Brock, I think that would depend on how far ahead we are. 🙂
March 29, 2024 at 8:02 pm #245446On the Apple TV deal, I am fine with them doing some sports programming, but the games should still also be available on mlb.tv. If Apple wants to add sports then fine, but don’t take anything away from the consumer. Add something that the consumer does not get, like maybe insightful pre and post game shows, special angles that the regular broadcasts don’t have, maybe a “7th inning stretch” contest where one lucky viewer can win a special prize.
Always give the consumer something extra, don’t take away their options. You want to broaden the base of consumers, not turn them away.
March 29, 2024 at 8:12 pm #245447I noticed on the schedule that the Cardinals are having a “Kids Rawlings Glove Day” in July vs. the Reds. I can’t recall if it was a Rawlings, but I received one of those giveaway gloves at a glove day game when I was a kid. I recall it being a pretty decent spare mitt and I had it for several years before the fake cowhide came apart. In any event, it’s nice to see them having a baseball glove giveaway for the kids.
March 29, 2024 at 8:15 pm #245448They’re also having a bobble head night in July for longtime Cardinal great, Larry Walker…Haha!
March 29, 2024 at 8:49 pm #245452Of course it is about money, not fan convenience. Apple pays big money for exclusive rights. MLB likes big money…
March 29, 2024 at 8:50 pm #245453Recently got out of U-verse and signed up with Direct TV. Apple TV is part of the package that we got. Looking forward to seeing what Thompson can do.
BTW, a U-verse tech told me that U-verse is going out of business. He said that U-verse isn’t taking on any new subscribers, and if you cancel U-verse, you can’t go back. U-verse is more user friendly than Direct TV, especially the playback function that U-verse has. You get a lot more channels for considerably less cost with Direct TV.

jj-cf-stlParticipant100mph w/a K change-up. Two please.
March 29, 2024 at 9:19 pm #245456
stlcard25ParticipantLeadoff homer for Betts. 1-0 Dodgers
March 29, 2024 at 9:20 pm #245457Mookie’s pretty good.
March 29, 2024 at 9:22 pm #245458Well, that didn’t take long, lol.
