Another reminder that initial physical appearance does not matter. Players who were singled out as possibly overweight as camp opened this spring – Munoz (hottest hitter this camp) and Ozuna (hottest hitter in the last week). Most noticeably slimmest – Gyorko (.171 BA).
Guys like Bartolo Colon and CC Sabathia also seem to approve of the Babe Ruth diet of beer and hot dogs but they still get the job done.
As long as Munoz and Ozuna produce on the field is all that matters to me.
Not what I had hoped, but also not surprising.
When I asked Mike Maddux if he and Mike Matheny would rock, scissors, paper if they had a disagreement on a pitching move, Maddux had a snappy comeback:

My wife and I played that game when we were younger. I was always scissors and she was always paper. After 40 years I still go with scissors but now she’s rock. Wink, wink…. you younger guys will learn that that’s the solution for marital bliss. 🙁
It seems Pham is dealing with some vision issues. He has new contacts and is trying positioning his body differently to see the ball better. When asked if his vision may an issue this year he said “we’ll see”. I feel bad for him this a tough challenge for him.
Martinez is probably glad. Tovar misses out on a chance to further showcase himself. Looks like he has pulled ahead of Mejia in the “defense first” shortstop race if the Cards decide to ever go that way.
