This is the type of signing that could propel Oviedo past Helsey and company in middle relief. If Oviedo and Hudson end up as the bridge to the back end of the pen, it would be a force.
K-rate will need to improve greatly to get to MLB standards. A 32 year old can spend only so much time at AAA otherwise he becomes a square block for the advancing prospects.

In other words, the SS job is DeJong’s coming out of shortened Spring Training. And if he doesn’t produce by around, say Memorial Day, then the job will be handed to Edmundo Sosa.
