1TD has the best suggestion. Watch the game with no volume. I do that quite often.

I think Edmonds made the call to leave. I saw a quick pop up on my phone that had Edmonds saying something like “It’s not fun being around the Cardinals right now.” Sounds like a fair-weather fan, but who are we to say what is going on. If he does not enjoy what he is doing he certainly has the right to move on.

Thompson has gotten better in my opinion. He is kind of “polly-anna-ish”, but then you need some of that positive energy or else no one would ever tune in.

When the team is playing winning baseball almost any broadcast team is easy to listen to. I’d be more than a little curious as to what Harry Caray and Jack Buck would have to say about the present day Cardinal outfit. Especially Harry…Haha!

It is my understanding that Edmond’s departure was mutual. He didn’t want to return and the company wasn’t going to ask him back. He did have some parting comments on the way out the door though.

MLB is letting their contract expire with ESPN after the 2025 season. Those in game highlights on baseball tonight were my exposure to most Cardinal games. One more season.

I don’t honestly recall Edmonds doing very many games. So while I enjoyed him. I won’t miss him all that much unless they replace him with Rick Horton. Which I hope isn’t the case.

ESPN had dialed back it’s coverage of the Pastime. I really don’t watch ESPN unless I have to. So far as I’m concerned they can kick rocks. MLB has better coverage and the highlight reels are pretty long for TV. Is ESPN plus ending it’s relationship as well with MLB?

I hope they find a home on someplace like TBS. My guess is they’d start a national slate of broadcasts after Hockey and NBA are done. Which is fine.

Looks like I will have 2 options for streaming Cardinals games this season. I can either sign up directly to FanDuel Sports Network and get the FanDuel Southwest Teams (Cardinals, Royals, and Okla. Thunder) or I can sign up for the FanDuel Network through Amazon Prime Video and get the same teams. Both options are the same price $19.99/month or $189.99/year. Both also have a 7 day free trial period.
Going to chose one of them Sunday morning and start the free trial so I can watch 2 pre-season games (23rd and 25th)and if everything works will sign up.

Thing is with amazon, you have to pay for amazon as well as the fanduel fee so unless you already have amazon, its best just to go through fanduel itself. Also on their site, its says that regional blackouts can still apply so not sure its that great. Might wait til season and use 7 day free trial just to see or wait til someone else tries it and lets people know

I’m glad to see MLB and ESPN agreeing to part ways after this season. ESPN has not been covering baseball at all for years really and they would give almost any other sport more attention. It also makes it easier for cord-cutters to watch all games, although I realize the games will likely move to another platform. Here is to hoping they let MLB.tv have the games as well or that it is someone like Netflix whom I already have a subscription with. If it is Apple or one of the other streaming services I won’t pay to watch a handful of games though.

This article says Manfred made a big mistake by letting ESPN walk away because no one else is going to give MLB $550M a year.

I have not had ESPN for years so no big deal to me that they won’t have MLB games after this year. I just hope I can still get the free T-Mobile mlb.tv subscription.

And unlike many fans, the occasional AppleTV or Peacock game doe not bother me either. Out of 162 games, missing one here or there and either listening to the KMOX broadcast, or just doing something else is fine.

And the last couple of years it has almost been better not sitting through the games.

Trying to watch game on FanDuel Network app. All was good until bottom of 1st inning. Then the screen went black followed by a “We are having technical difficulties” message. Now there has been about 10 minutes of continuous commercials. Not a good start to the 7 day free trial period.
Video returned just in time for final out of inning but poor audio and only one camera angle.
Audio and video back to normal about half way through top of second inning.

Well it’s only Spring Training. They have a month or so to work out the bugs. Lol

If anyone is interested in direct to stream and if it’s available in your area without having cable. Here you go!

I lol that the Cardinals have not marketed this more but there’s a reason.
