For those who want a general idea on the cost. Padres TV in market streaming is $19.99 a month or $99.99 for the year. Marquee, the Cubs in market streaming service is $19.99 a month. So my guess is for in market it’ll be around $20-25 a month.
MLB and Diamond Sports Group have filed for another extension of the objection deadline. Instead of today at 5 p.m. ET, they're pushing back to tomorrow at 3 p.m. ET.
What we know: ATL, MIA, STL are planning to return to Diamond.
Unknown: CIN, DET, KC, LAA, TBR.

I am eagerly awaiting the price of the streaming option. I will be happy if it comes in at $20 per month.
So they come in $17 million less on the Diamond/fan duel deal, but can make up some of it in direct streaming
I would guess they will be partnering with Fan Duel on a few more things as well.
I think that MLB and FanDuel will be taking in some of that direct to consumer local streaming $$$.
Plus we don’t know how much the team will benefit from this. Rumor was The Padres didn’t get a ton of hits on their streaming but that is the Padres and they don’t have a huge fan base.
It’s a deal put together from the wreckage of bankrupt entities. I’m sure BDW doesn’t see any revenue certainty beyond each check that actually comes and doesn’t bounce. I expect him to lighten future fixed cost commitments wherever he can despite whatever verbal posturing is going on.
Marlins have finalized their deal with FanDuel Sports Network Florida (previously Bally Sports Florida), per source. Unlike the Cardinals yesterday, Marlins did not need to accept a large rights fee reduction. So FanDuel keeps Heat & Marlins, loses Panthers.

Though if I am the Cardinals I would be worried about the latest developments in the latest ESPN article….hopefully they got some guarantees or assurances.

I believe that is b/c the Marlins receive next to nothing on local TV.
Per the thread to the tweet that Brian posted, the Marlins will get about mid 50s million from the deal. The Cards took a cut from their 75 million which basically puts them on level footing with Miami. Maybe Mo negotiated that dud of a deal for us too.
If i was by myself, streaming would be a great option figuring its about 20 to 25 a month. But in a world where i maintain other subscriptions mainly for others, its not a small added cost. Add the fact that subscription costs constantly go up and its a expensive proposition. Then you add the fact that this year will more than likely be a transitional year far as record, it also makes it a interesting choice.
Another comparison point.
On an annual basis (not just during the season), MLB.TV is about $12.50 per month. If you only use it six months, its effective cost doubles to $25 per month.
On the positive, MLB.TV allows one to see all 30 teams, except the one(s) in market. But even the road games of the in-market teams are blacked out (if they are playing in your home market). (For example, if the Cards are playing the Cubs and you live in Chicago, you can’t see the game.) MLB.TV also includes all the minor league telecasts, which is great for those who care about the minors.
But MLB.TV was not and will not be the answer to see Cardinals games for those in the team’s footprint. I’ve seen nothing to suggest those blackouts are going away.
They won’t go away. You will not be able to get mlbtv and see the Cardinals in market. You will either have to have some sort of cable or streaming option like fubo or buy the Cardinals direct to stream option.
It will be interesting to see what MLB considers to be in market. Pretty cut and dry what market Miami, Anaheim and San Diego is. Not so clear cut for the Cardinals.
Yea the blackout thing is crazy. I can understand home games though i dont agree with it. Road games make no sense. You want to create fans, have it where people can see it. You want to try to kill the fan support and future fans, do it exactly the way you are now.

If I understand this right, this is good news for me. I pay $100 A month for directv. I pay it so i can watch the Cardinals and Blueblood and Law and order reruns. The rest is trash. If i can get the Cardinals for $20 a month I can do without the reruns. Is that right?
Yes the way I understand it is that if a fan lives in market they can use Fan Duel Midwest to stream the Cardinals directly or use their current cable or satelite provider. Otherwise they would have to use MLB.TV.

Just to clarify what gscottar said, if you are in market for the Cards, FanDuel Midwest will still be blacked out on MLB.tv.
This new agreement will enable Amazon Prime Video customers to pay an extra fee to get FanDuel Sports Networks in their markets.
I look at it as a new alternative to your local cable or DirecTV to get FDSN (or from FDSN directly).
Will be interesting to see if the subscription price through Prime Video will be different than the direct streaming price from FanDuel Midwest.
