Great article on the ’64 club. What a crazy season finish!
October 2, 2024 at 12:06 pm #268666This is really amazing. It is so rare to see an owner publicly berate one his own players like this.
#Diamondbacks owner Ken Kendrick had some harsh words about Jordan Montgomery's performance this season:https://t.co/FQDu609CiG pic.twitter.com/bPePcyJK3p

October 3, 2024 at 6:49 am #268753Flaherty is first up for the Dodgers in the NLDS.
October 3, 2024 at 11:36 am #268778Heard the early rumors on Goldschmidt’s landing spot are Seattle, or (gulp) the Chicago National League club.
October 3, 2024 at 12:35 pm #268788Yeah Flaherty starting G1 of the Dodgers series for the team with the best record in baseball. It is amazing how much better he looked after another off-season to heal his shoulder. He also made some adjustments that I am unsure were just from himself or the Tigers coaching staff.
October 3, 2024 at 12:36 pm #268789I wouldn’t be concerned about Goldy going to the Cubs. It may be a good thing. Goldy will have a fairly large salary still I expect given his pedigree, but he is on the bad side of the aging curve.
October 3, 2024 at 1:32 pm #268794Yeah, Goldy going to the Cubs, if it happens, will be sort of like when Jim Edmonds was there. He will be fairly well along in his production decline years.

ParticipantI dont know if this has been talked about but seems ward jordan montgomery is in a pickle. Apparently the gm or whatever pushed to sign him and now is regretting it. May not be gm, not sure. But he has a player option for this year. He didnt pitch good enough to get a lot in free agency and going back would be awkward as well. I think he should get a new agent. Missing spring training due to high asking price didnt help him.
October 5, 2024 at 10:26 am #268976I think he should get a new agent.
He fired Boras in April after signing the contract.
October 5, 2024 at 10:31 am #268978Boras screwed up the contract, no doubt about it. But he didn’t teach Montgomery how to become ineffective. I hope Jordan is taking responsibility for his own results on the mound instead of making excuses.
October 5, 2024 at 12:57 pm #268986Scroll up willie. I posted about how the Dback owner blasted Montgomery in public. A real Steinbrenner move.

stlcard25ParticipantDefinitely a surprise that Montgomery pitched so poorly. I can’t imagine that the dragged out contract situation helped. Hopefully for Monty, he pitches better next year. I’d trade Arenado for him. 😃
October 7, 2024 at 8:47 am #269159Carlson has been a bust. He’s never lived up to the hype.
October 7, 2024 at 8:50 am #269160I don’t care what Flaherty does for the Dodgers. They did the right thing finally unloading him. He never did much for the Cardinals.
October 7, 2024 at 8:51 am #269161Flaherty was always healing something.

ParticipantI saw where gaylen pitts died. I didnt remember him but he started out in cardinal organization in 1964 but never made it to big leagues, was traded to oakland where he eventually did make a short stint. Became a coach for As organization but eventually came to st louis as a minor league. Torre moved him up with big club but when torre was fired, he got moved back down to AAA. Apparently coached up through the matheny era.

October 19, 2024 at 10:52 pm #270003Only appropriate that 2 ex-cardinals end the ALCS against one another.
So which one do we miss?

He was the manager of class A Springfield team in the 80s
October 23, 2024 at 5:15 am #270274Fernando Valenzuela died. When he broke in in 1981 7 of his first 8 games where shut outs.
October 23, 2024 at 5:27 am #270275Everybody was talking about Fernando Valenzuela.
October 28, 2024 at 2:32 pm #270679No Skip and no Danny D for the White Sox.
October 28, 2024 at 2:37 pm #270680I don’t blame either one of them…
October 28, 2024 at 4:19 pm #270688Me either 1TD. Smart move to stay away from that train wreck.
