Dozier, who has been participating as recently as Monday (unsure of yesterday), tests positive for COVID. Royals are in St. Louis and supposed to start a game with our #STLCards in about 5 hours. Not good. https://t.co/K8tV0lCtj0

July 22, 2020 at 11:11 am #133262I see the Reds released Dietrich, their 2B player. Didn’t he come from the Marlins?
July 22, 2020 at 11:37 am #133264Yes, it is the same guy. Missed most of camp with the virus.
July 23, 2020 at 6:14 am #133370Saw this on a local rag this morning. The Toronto Blue Jays were all set to play in PNC Park in Pittsburgh as their home field and it had been all approved until 3pm yesterday when the Governor axed the deal. Oh well, a wandering ALE team may have to go to Buffalo afterall.
July 23, 2020 at 7:19 am #133372Seems poor advance planning to be at Opening Day with no place to play home games. Those players’ minds will be in a million places and who could blame them?
July 23, 2020 at 8:38 am #133382My daughter lives in Ontario and usually goes to a few Blue Jay games each season with her kids. She told me that the city and province had approved playing in their home stadium but that at the last minute the Federal Canadian Government in Ottawa are the ones who axed the deal saying that those filthy (my word) Americans would be bringing in more virus. I think Buffalo is one of their last alternatives but they claim it is not ‘major league ready.’
July 23, 2020 at 1:52 pm #133432Looks like the Nats are rolling the COVID dice… I wonder how their opponents, the Yankees, feel about playing in DC tonight.
Soto's positive is from a test two days ago. Results came back this morning. All the rest of those tests were negative, but Soto practiced (as an asymptomatic carrier) with the team that day. Nats will be tested again today, but obviously not have results before the game.

July 23, 2020 at 6:04 pm #133461I guess it was good he wasn’t practicing? Trying hard to find a positive comment about this!

Going to call Fauci’s first pitch the second worst first pitch ever. Does not top 50 Cent at CitiField on May 27, 2014 pic.twitter.com/F4qPbCdduc

July 24, 2020 at 8:53 am #133494Two negative tests NOT always required for players to return. MLB, Players Association adjusting in certain cases when players repeatedly test positive. Story: https://t.co/5w28OPgUba

July 24, 2020 at 2:19 pm #133527The Jays will play their home games in Buffalo, after all. Funny how all those supposed showstoppers about minor league facilities not being good enough disappeared.

I had read that they were concerned about the lighting and clubhouse size but I am glad to hear they are working that out. It looks like a nice stadium from the photo.
July 24, 2020 at 5:05 pm #133543With MLB not instituting a bubble for players and staff the whole thing is built like a house of cards and will come tumbling down.
Now the Marlins have to take the field tonight, hours after learning their starting Catcher tested positive and they were all on the field, clubhouse, and same plane 2 days ago. The players deserve every bleeping penny they are getting this season.

July 24, 2020 at 10:24 pm #133582Sorry Mr. Mish but that is a ridiculous statement. I dont see Wal Mart workers getting paid hundreds of thousands a month (minimum).
July 25, 2020 at 5:48 am #133589Ditto to CC’s comment.
July 27, 2020 at 7:14 am #133782Four Marlins learned they tested positive for COVID-19 in a span of three days.
Two infectious disease experts say the positive results fit the definition of “a clear outbreak” with the club.
So why did the Marlins play baseball on Sunday? With @Jaysonst https://t.co/7Mv4Ok1K8r

July 27, 2020 at 7:56 am #133784Developing situation in Philadelphia. Miami Marlins charter home this AM has been cancelled, after it was rescheduled from yesterday due to COVID testing. #JuntosMiami supposed to play Orioles tonight in home opener. #Marlins pic.twitter.com/nBguj9e1Md
— Sports + Aviation (@SportsAviation) July 27, 2020
July 27, 2020 at 7:59 am #133785Based on the potential numbers I am hearing it could be difficult for the club to play tonight. We would be looking at the majority of their camp in Jupiter having to drive South to Miami and take the field. Ongoing discussions about this. Nothing confirmed yet.
— Craig Mish (@CraigMish) July 27, 2020
July 27, 2020 at 8:11 am #133788The Marlins' home opener against the Baltimore Orioles tonight has been canceled, sources tell ESPN, as the team remains in Philadelphia and continues to undergo testing.
— Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) July 27, 2020
July 27, 2020 at 8:18 am #133790Not to mention the Yankees having to use the same clubhouse the Marlins were in yesterday.
That house of cards BHC mentioned is shaking…
The Phillies played the Marlins this past weekend. They stayed at home and take on the Yankees tonight. Can all the Phillies be tested in time to ensure the spread won't increase? This is going to really test MLB's protocols.

stlcard25ParticipantMight be a rotating door of 60 man roster players coming through with routine postponements/cancellations whenever a team has an outbreak. If the season itself doesn’t get cannot soon as well.
July 27, 2020 at 8:27 am #133792The #Marlins had 4 confirmed cases from Friday testing and the game in Philly was still played yesterday. So it is not just Mia personnel who were exposed. It was those with the #Phillies, umpires, anyone who had access to the field, etc.

July 27, 2020 at 8:31 am #133793The stakes might be a tad higher here than when there is an outbreak at the local Walmart… 😉
About 40 percent of Marlins active players are now positive for Covid. Heard 11 Marlins players have now tested positive. @JesseRogersESPN and @JeffPassan first reported 8 new ones which would make 12 of 30.

July 27, 2020 at 9:06 am #133800Already seeing some line up to place the blame on players for not agreeing to play the season in a bubble – as if having all 30 teams in Arizona and Florida (or Texas for that matter) would have been a better idea. Maybe there is no blame. Any plan had major risks.
Waiting to hear if the 2020 MLB season has been cancelled. Nothing definitive yet. “In jeopardy” seems to be the most texted term to me in the last 30 minutes.
