Koperniak (wish I had remembered to vote for him sooner)
I changed up my thinking a bit on Koperniak for this round. I slid him up ahead of Cho, which puts him along side Prieto on my list. Prieto and Koperniak seem similar in that neither has an elite skill set, but they both are in the right place at the right time. Koperniak has the 40 man slot though.

Among some of the names being discussed that may actually have traction, I do like Koperniak. I think he is more than just a fill in bench player and may end up with some fairly good seasons as a very heavily used 4th OF or platoon OF with 400-500 ABs. He is old, but I see him having multiple multiple 1+ WAR seasons in his career while a lot of guys up for debate like Prieto and Saladin may be lucky to put up more than 1 WAR total in their careers.
I also like Showalter. He is currently an RP only, but I think if he can develop a 3rd pitch, the Cards will let him have a run at starting next year as he has really good stuff. Even if he can’t develop a 3rd pitch, he does have late inning RP upside which puts him as my #15. Koperniak is my #16 prospect.

20. Andrew Dutkanych He’s hardly pitched at all for the last two years because of TJ surgery. But I did find a scouting report that places his FB at 95-96 with 97MPH max velo as an 18-19 year old. Also, reported to have a CB, CU, and SL. Kid was 6’3 and 205 lbs at age 18-19. If he fully recovers from his TJ surgery, the potential is there.I feel better about a kid coming off of TJ surgery nowadays than I do about DSL players. But I don’t know how long I can hold off on Padilla and Raniel Rodriguez. They both sound so promising and the Cardinals are way overdue on producing a major league, Spanish-speaking player.
I confirm Prieto as my first choice, it should be the last time 🙂

19. Darlin Saladin. Like his chances of eventually providing something at the big league level.
20. Won Bin Cho. More of a project still, but he has power and hit pretty well at Palm Beach. He struggled at Peoria (especially with the strikeouts), but hopefully if he can make it to Springfield, the better hitting environment will give him some positive momentum.
I feel better about a kid coming off of TJ surgery nowadays than I do about DSL players.
