That’s a good list. Other than Kareem, we are all past our prime, I’d reckon. But perhaps we’d hold our own in an old timers game.

20. Tanner FranklinI don’t really like ranking guys who I haven’t seen play against MiLB competition. That said, it’s interesting to me that you put Franklin at 20. I totally get Doyle. But from what little I’ve seen, I’d rank Gurevitch well ahead of Franklin. I’m not sure what to do with Mitchell as a high schooler.
Just to see if I’m not crazy, I checked my regular go-to Fangraphs. They ranked the top 120 in the draft. Doyle was #1 overall. Gurevitch was next at 52. Mitchell was 54. Crossland at 89. And Franklin was an honorable mention the way I read it. They gave him a 35+ valuation. If the Cardinals can successfully turn him into a starter though, I can see the potential.
I have Franklin there because I do think they’ll aim to make him into a starter and I like the arm. Plus, I’m not exactly sold on the guys that would be in that next group. A lot of the guys I liked coming into the year have lost their luster (looking at you, Mr Koperniak).

27…. for the most part you got the right players but many in the wrong order according to my own personal selections post draft. We’ll see how things change after Thursday at midnight. I hope we can add at least a couple more prospects to the top-25 🙂
A player who has opened my eyes is Deniel Ortiz. Hitting .287, 10 homers, 36 rbis, and 31 stolen bases. Not bad for a 20 year old and 16th round draft pick.
I have started trying to put together my updated list, although I think I will wait until after the trade deadline to finish. Then I can just put in both the new draftees the new trade acquisitions as well.
Cards 27, Ortiz has really opened my eyes and even before his numbers were even remotely decent. Thanks to Kyle Reis for saying some things about him and then taking a deeper dive into Ortiz’s statcast data. Deniel is posting great exit velocities at a great launch angle. He has a great eye and does not swing at pitches out of the zone. The weak spot in his game is making contact when swinging. it isn’t a level that isn’t playable though with the power he would have. I did start my listing, and unless something changes with many guys hopping in front of him, I have him in my top 20 rankings.
A whole bunch of new prospects to fit in…should be interesting to see how it shakes out over the next few months. I can imagine that our top 50 list will likely include 15-20 new names from last year, in addition to the folks who have departed the list.

So…we doing this thing for 2026? I’m willing to keep the same arrangement as last year and do the Tuesday and Thursday tabulation, if jnevel is willing to do the Sunday tallies.
If jnevel is not able to go, I’d be willing to do Sundays. I keep track of the voting anyway and did it a few years ago.
At this point I like to take a look at this year’s Mr. Irrelevant, the #50 prospect. This time the results are surprisingly good. For the Community it was Leonel Sequera. He made 24 starts for PB, and while his w/l record was not great, the rest of his numbers were not bad. A respectable showing. He appears to have staying power and worth following next season. For Brian it was Dakota Harris. He had a respectable year playing 3B for Springfield, and showed off some positional utility. A singles hitter type. No idea if the quality of his D makes him a possible future ML UT or more of an upper levels depth piece for a couple years.
NyquisT – You are welcome to take up the lead with “25”. I can play backup if there’s ever a moment either of you can’t do it.
When do we start voting then? I’m working on an updated list now. I’m pretty comfortable on who number 1 is though.
FYI – Church/Granillo/Crooks all still rookie eligible. Anyone else who has been to St Louis is not.
